Sounds like you don't give a Damn. :)  The problem is that you are looking for someone else to have the "fighter pilot" spirit, when you need to look within, you DO care about getting kills, everyone does. But you also care in the manner in which you get them (turn fight vs e fight) Sad that you would rather quit than adapt. Sorry to see you go. Good fights =S=.

You really have no clue do you?

8 years ago I would have never thought this day would come but I have decided to cancel my account for AH2.

When I started playing this game 8+ years ago my only goal was to learn the art of aerial combat, fight everyone and everything, and try to become one of the best fighter pilots in the game. That is the only reason I play this game - for the fights. I do not care about the war. I do not care about the perks. I do not care about getting kills or landing them. I do not care about the chess piece loyalty. I do not care about bombing or gving. I do not care about score. Other people do play this game for those reasons or other reasons, and that's fine but for me it was, has been, and always will be about the fight. These past 2 or 3 years though I have been noticing a severe decline in fights in the MA. These past few months they have almost become non-existent. The last 6 months I have gotten into very few decent fights, most of which have been the result of me having to ask on channel 200 if anyone wants to fight and getting a reply from a close friend in the game. The vast majority of my sorties (I'd say around 98% of them) involve me upping towards a red dar bar, merging with someone, and watching them dive straight to the deck and run to ack. I break off, look for another target, and repeat the same process until I either run out of fuel or bail out from boredom. Heck, I even had one guy PM me asking why I wouldn't fight him! And by fight him he meant "why won't you follow me into my base ack?" This is not what I'm pay $15 a month for.

Biggest <S> to everyone in Aces High 2! You have all been some of the most awesome people I have ever met in my life. I have made so many really good friends from this game from all over the world! I'll still be lurking around the BBS a bit but Latrobe in the MA is no more. If the fighter pilot spirit ever returns to AH2 then maybe I'll make a comeback to the game. Otherwise I don't think I'll be making a return any time in the near future.

Again massive  :salute and farewell my friends.

I still haven't had any problem finding a fight of any kind...I understand that Latrobe is a strictly fighter pilot...when I want to be a fighter pilot...I find fights...if I can't find such a fight I make one...cmex and I were on last week couldn't buy a fight...by the time we were done...we were outnumbered 15 to 1 it was awesome...

The game is dying and the sky is falling...

see your shade in about week sir  :salute

 :salute Latrobe!

Want to let you know I can't fight you and have any chance of winning and here's why:

i've discovered my connection says it excellant (40-79 ping), but there's some kind of lag or packet drops (or both) going on somewhere that makes it almost impossible for me to win in a turny fight against some players (possibly based on their geographical location).

The other players plane is not actually where it appears to me on my computer. Bullets just go right through as if it's a ghost.

Or the other player shoots me down while they are pointed away from me! I stopped flying 262s now because I can't fly near other plays without some odd thing happening to make me lose it.

I don't know if others are experiencing this, but it makes me bail from turn fights as soon as I see my bullets disappear.

The internet is a mess and I don't have many ISPs to choose from. Those of you who don't have to put up with this may not know it's happening to others.

Anyway, take a break and come back when we get this new AH up and running, maybe things will be more fun for you.

Again  :salute

My bet Latrobe is what you are tired of is the plane you are flying.  It is too easy to win with in ACM.  I challenge you to spend a whole tour in a P-38.  Not as a picker, not with a support group just lone wolf and pure ACM just the way you like it.

P38 isn't that hard to fly once you learn how to
Being able to control both engines in the scissor is great.  :D
But I also challenge you, Latrobe, to use a P38 for an entire tour. You will have loads of fun, and aim doesn't matter cause it has lasers.  :old:

He makes a good point...  Latrobe got 70% of his kills in a 109 of some sort, 35% in a 109-F4 (not the fastest plane around).  No wonder he couldn't catch anyone...

If you are getting tired in the game, change it up.  I got tired of the Pee-51's and Run-90's so I started flying a 47-M.  Sure, they are both faster normally, but on WEP the M can keep up with both long enough to force them to fight.

Let this serve as a message.  If you're getting tired of the game, change things up...

Huge loss for the AH community, Latrobe has a great attitude both in game and on the BBS, and has always gone out of his way to help people when asked with videos, advice, dueling, training, etc.  I hope you return when the new version arrives Latrobe, and hope the "newness" of it breaths some of the old spirit of past days of AH into things, and good fights will be more prevalent and easier to find.

I should add...on the topic of 'changing things up'...

I would say that very few folks play a more narrow or limited game in the MA than myself, and the others in the 11th.

I feel Latrobe's pain...

...but for me...it's the guys I play the game with...that keep me playing the game.

:D I shall.  Win or lose it's all about the fight...  The problem is, you sir are a small percentage of the minority.  All I ever see of run-90's is them flying by at mach speed to take out the radar then auger or turning tail after one HO attempt only to return at 30K to repeat the process..

Only 19...you will miss the alarm clock.  ;)

And on topic...Latrobe never minded.  True Latrobe story here.

Taking off with half a dozen mates back on our way to the only good fight on the map.  Guy on range asks/says:  "Where you guys going? There is nothing going on over there".   My reply:  "Are you kidding me!  Latrobe is defending over there.  That means everything is going on!"

Funny part was I didn't realize Latrobe had just switched sides, was in range and heard the whole exchange!  I was a bit embarrassed, but at the same time...glad to have had the man hear with own ears...how highly myself and others not only held him as a skilled player...but one with game too.

Oh yeah...plenty of those types of 'missions' going on out there.  Big and small.  Can't deny that.  Just hate to see the whole population lumped into one bag...no mater what the bag is.  <S>

The game is dying and the sky is falling... rolleyes

July last year saw 757,947 K/Ds in LWA. This year 491,152. 2012 saw 831,743 in LWA. In 2009 the LWAs had about 1,300,000. And thats just LWAs.

The sky isnt falling but the game IS dieing. I'd say its lost somewheres between 60% and 70% of its prime player base. In the last few years its lost players it just cant afford to lose. Most of all valued Euro and foreign players.
