I have a ~30 yr old bottle of Courvoisier in Waterford crystal. 750mL i believe.

One day I'm going to sell it or trade it for the J2M?  :O

So, you guys had no problem intercepting the B-29s?  I believe it after reading the logs.  After the interjections from a few of the normal Axis flyers to introduce  restrictions to allow for the insufficient IJN/IJA plane set, it really wasn't needed.

From Wikipedia so I cannot guarantee accuracy, but the J2M would clearly be competitive in the MA and fill a need for scenarios.

Empty weight: 2,839 kg (6,259 lb)
Loaded weight: 3,211 kg (7,080 lb)
Powerplant: 1 × One 1,850 hp Mitsubishi MK4R-A Kasei 23a 14-cylinder two-row radial engine, 1,379 kW (1,850 hp)

Range: 560 km (302 nmi, 348 mi)
Service ceiling: 11,430 m (37,500 ft)
Rate of climb: 1 402 m/min (4,600 ft/min)
Wing loading: 174 kg/m² (35 lb/ft²)
Power/mass: 0.232 kW/kg (0.382 hp/lb)

Beautiful climb rate. Would give the K4 a hard time in a vertical fight +  a niki's fire power

Again I have to ask where these performance numbers came from.

You cant fill it with Yank fighter fuel and put it in Aces High.

Looks like US calculated numbers from during WWII.  Top speeds I usually see for the J2M is in the 378-386mph range, depending on the version.  The climb is also not 4600fpm.

Some versions may have armor, I don't recall.

The last FSO was in dire need of the plane designed for the defense of Japan from B-29's.

The B-29s had a cap of 20k and once they've dropped no Ki or N1K is going to see anything but their vapor trails...

The 20k cap was because nothing we have can compete higher or because they don't want FSO to drag on?

I agree here completely - if the B29s in this past FSO had gone up to 30K, the japanese defense would have been 1 pass and gone with no chance at all to catch up.  20K at least made it a battle.
My only regret was not trying the B29 NOE strike.

I've been keeping it for posterity or something like that  :lol

Gf's dad offered me $150 a couple of years ago, I laughed for quite some time.

A couple of bar owners have asked me which one it is, all I know is what it looks like (sort of; it's wrapped in bubble and in a box these days), it has a felt cover over the stopper and no blemishes. Those bar owners said depending, $500 to $2000, they'd have to see it...

I don't know if I've ever had Courvoisier, isn't cognac kinda harsh like scotch? Hard liquor for sipping was never my thing.
