Them old boys rest easy with their permanent generators.  I have a box of electric cords and a "plan" I "think" will work. Thankfully I have only had to keep my gas powered generator in the garage.

Good luck down there. I imagine all kinds of "oh no". Frozen pipes, flooded basements, roads undriveable.

I have not had power since 4:30 Am Monday.  Our servers are all on generator. We get a little heat from our gas Fire place. And run a cord to the house to power a few things.

California has rolling brown outs because of forest fires, Texas has rolling brown outs when it gets a little cold outside.  Pretty embarrassing.

I find this to be a curious statement.

Cold for Indiana is not the same as cold for Texas or for us here in Arizona and other places at or near sea level.

If we had had ice storms and temperatures like this we’d probably have a lot of the same trouble TX is having now.

We usually have monsoon storms every summer, where depending on the severity power can be out for minutes, hours or days.  Every summer...

anyway we have a friend who spent 670k on a house a few miles north of us, i mentioned to her to get a  house generator as that place is prone to lose power during high winds. she didn't. was a long summer for her, specially since we had record hit weather.

I've lived in dallas
 Since 95.coldest I had seen it was 9 deg . Tuesday morning hit -2 deg. The issue apears to be mostly natural gas supply do to wells not being able to produce in those temps. Obviously wind mills also cut out but that was only a small percentage at the time.

Our power came back on 10:00 pm Tuesday night.
