Well, I've gone back and read the entire thing on Deja News. from what I
can tell, unless I have missed key posts, Robey started calling "Voss" on
this before the 'sickness' was announced. It looks announced after the
house of cards started falling.
Robey stands behind his name, his profession, and his record. That's more
than we can say for Paul Hinds, who, in my estimation, is a total fake.
TAS never existed, except as a few renderings using a SGI workstation.
It never will exist, there isn't even the hint of an Intel based sim in
pre-alpha. In short, IT WAS A HOAX.
I don't know who this 'oneman' is, but it's probably the Hinds-alter ego,
a second account made to look like a second person.
So let's sum this up:
1. Paul Hinds is not dying. He may have never existed. If he is sick, as
he says, I defy anyone to post the name of the hospital he is in.
Who is the physician treating him? I expect silence on this, because Paul
may fear "retribution" from the Iraqi illuminati or something. C'mon.
Spare us.
2. Whomever is behind the Hinds persona is some sort of weird, perverse
individual who delights in pretending he is a coder, a pilot, a hero,
whatever. He is none of these things. He can't even use Paint Shop Pro
that well.
3. Oneman is the persona that this individual will "become".
4. TAS never existed. Not in beta, not as a single line of C or C++ code
under any Intel based architecture. They were renders using Lightwave or
some other 3D package.
5. Robey has been way too nice about this. He should have simply called
it, and moved on.
6. Some poor sap who was suckered into providing financing for the project
posted to the closed beta list that he now doubted Paul was real, or the
game ever existed. He basically fessed up to getting taken for a ride, the
poor sap.
Case closed. Forget TAS ever existed, and gnore all further posts from
anyone having any involvement with it. Some nerd has decided to see how
far he could push the envelope of a hoax on the Internet. Frankly, it was
much farther than I would have guessed, owing in great part to the tenets
laid out by the estimable P.T. Barnum many years ago.
It's an electronic flea circus guys. Wake up.

P.S. I wait with anticipation for "oneMan" to rebut, no doubt calling me
heartless and unappreciative of this war hero's plight. Save it.
