You wrote that, as you understood it, ".... his outstanding work resulted in absolutely zero buffs dying before they reached target."

I wrote that you understood wrong.

Your quote above acknowledges your error.

The allies also acknowledge that damage from the subsequent drop was negligible.

All in all, this was a great evening.  I had a ton of fun with it, even though I'm no fan of the plane we used.  I did get one bomber kill and an assist, which was ample for me.

Erg did a fine job putting together the mission; Jester & keyapaha did a fine job arranging the intercept.

Your pathetic screeching is duly noted, and taken for what it's worth.  It's just as well you discoed.  You were not missed.

sigh... have none of you clues?  typical. there *is* one. maybe if you actually used a little initiative and tried something, you might stumble across a clue.

Shane has it ever dawned on you , that if everybody else thinks you act like a jerk.... You are acting like a jerk?

Your just not as cool as you seem to think you are. You talk about humping legs and slapping people down , on the text buffer and BBS. Again last night all you did was belittle people and throw insults.  You insulted Keyapaha repeatedly, as well as MDbaker. Both of these guys are respected, and liked. I know for a fact Keyapaha is a true class act. He proved it last night by  not losing his temper through your entire series of childish insults.

Your just an annoying little twit , who is so insecure the only way you can feel good about yourself is to constantly run other people down. Keep it up ,,,if you'll notice more and more people are getting tired of your behavior.  Do you act this way when you talk to people face to face?  Or you just a tough guy on the internet , who wets his pants in a real life confrontation?

I'm done with you on this thread go ahead a blast away with insults, and keep trying to convince yourself your superior to everyone else. Your the only one buying it though.

Sheesh,,,,,,, and you call other people tards?? Give me a break!

so sad that such a fun thing had to degrade to this.  Seriously shane your behavior is disruptive here and in the game.  If you cant play nice please just be quiet.

As for the the above statements...

I take offense!;)  Little damage to the target!!!!!   I have a picture of the battle damage at this link (thanks arjay!).  Not perfect, but at least 75% of the primary target was destroyed.  We did a 'lead' drop where only I was in the scope (ala historical bomber missions), and I wouldnt call that too bad.

lol.  i see just like in the arena, here on the BBS you have a nice little circle forming.  be careful to take regular breaks so carpal tunnel doesn't set in.

you guys really need to learn how to fly these virtual planes. i'm being nice and giving you the benefit of doubt that you might actually be capable of it.

and lowe... lol, i took on 5 of your little squaddies last night, low and on the deck 2 of them went down, the other 3 would have too if i had any ammo for them.  and yeah, i did rtb.. with 6 kills.  lol.

you teaching them anythng at all????  nice to have a mirror image of the 325th on lw side so that no matter who i fly for, there will be easy targets.

I'm not gonna support one side or the other in this pissing contest.  I'll lay out the facts as I saw them.

The bombers weren't intercepted before the drop because they were totally missed by most everyone.  I called the first posrep of the Allied formation at something like 9,12,5 heading east.  I went East to hook up with other LW planes (I was lonewolfing, because I didn't know the text channel the "missions" where on).

One small wave of LW guys (6-8 guys) went in, and apparently engaged escorts at around 9,12, 6.   A few mins later, I saw the rest of the LW heading that direction instead of realizing the buffs had kept going and were about 10,12,4  (I was in icon range of a lot of LW, and in visual dot range of two groups of unknowns.)   So I turned towards the eastern most group of dots, 95% sure that was the buff stream.  It was.

The second wave of LW bypassed the buff stream (with 6 remaining escorts) and ended up being caught a full sector out of position to the west when I called out positive ID (could make out B-17 shapes) on buffs in 10,12,5 still heading east.

The first wave of LW never called out on Ch 2 they were engaging escorts and that the buffs had kept plodding along.  The second wave of LW either didn't notice the dots at their relative 10 (LW was heading west, buffs were almost south of them) or chose not to investigate them.  I should have said something on range channel to the effect of "yo, dots to the south are prolly buffs, you're more than likely heading to an escort furball."

Those 3 things combined to make it so only a few LW managed to engage the buffs otw to the target.

That may have been what you witnessed, but the reality of the situation was this:

JG-3 Udet was supposed to find and engage the fiter escorts, which they did.

13th Sentai, flying Ta152's were to follow up and engage bombers cleared of escorts, which we did BEFORE THE BOMB RUN.

The problem was that there were only 5 members of 13th Sentai attacking a formation of at least 30 17's with interlocking grids of fire.  On my initial dive I killed one 17 outright but was hammered by another formation who had nothing to concentrate on other than my plane clearing the other formation.

The bombers were at close to 32k on initial contact.  The members of the 13th that were lucky enough to survive the first pass with a flyable plane had to then climb back up to attack position.  Suicide just to turn and run up the 6 of this kind of formation.

Those of you that could not be bothered to go to A2 to get in on initial planning and get on mission channel 173, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

The main problem here is that the 152's have to get within 500 yards to make their cannons effective while you have bombers engaging you out to 1.2.  And not just one formation several.  That kind of firepower is whithering to say the least.

So does any JG-3 or 13th Sentai have film?  I'd like to see it, since I didn't film myself.

Hey naj, nice plan.  Again I do have to say the bombers 50s are just insane.  They are fine for a lone bomber trying to get to target, cause he needs all he can get, but when flying realisticaly they are way way to powerful.

I think they need to try and figure something out, like maybe guns other than the one you are in are less effective or likely to hit the target.

Our target alt was 24k which I was at (lead), but I know some of our guys were above that, I dont think they were all the way up to 32k.  I may be wrong though.  I know the escort was up that high though.

In this case, I think everyone should have taken D9's.  They take some punishment and guns are  effective at greater range.

I think our 2 biggest mistakes were in plane choice and not making the group going after bombers bigger.

I said 32K because the first report I got indicated 32K.  The formations I actually attacked were at about 27k to 28k.

If you want to know the exact alt of the bomber I killed, ask CIU, it was one of his.  It was another formation that got credited with my kill, not CIU, so my run on him was effective.  It's just damn hard to go into that many formations of 17's and come out of it.

Our chance of successfully engaging the 17's prior to bombing would have increased if the lone wulf group of LW would have bothered to get to A2 in time to take part in planning.  Some of those guys could have been attached to the 13th and we would have gone in on the bombers with 15 planes instead of 5.
