Target Practice
« Reply #15 on: August 20, 2003, 11:13:10 AM »
Honestly,

Shooting chutes is great target practice....theres a smaller hit bubble, and even though it is a slow moving target, there is many a great joy in hearing a knit or rook pop from all the excess gas that has been relieved from a few bullet holes. BTW  - What are they feeding you guys in the  knit/rook camp? Stay away from it whatever it is.....

Anyway, My favorite way to pop a de-planed guy is to get them in free fall.... I find this more challenging than waiting for them to pull the cord. Plus you dont have to blow all your alt :)

I started shooting chutes after all my chutes were shot, when i made the decision, i deleted my bail command. I shoot every chute I can, since yak MGs are useful for little else.

Your type made chute shooting very rewarding in AW.

yeah?, that must have either been before 1990, or in the kids RR arenas.

My only regret about killing chutes is that chute deaths aren't violent enough.  I'd like to saw the enemy pilot in half with my machine guns and see his lower half fall away while his upper half screams with the last gasps of pseudo-life just before he splatters against my canopy glass in a dazzling display of blood, guts, eyeballs, and teeth.

Maybe I should post this in the AH2 forum as a request.

If chutes were not meant to be shot then they wouldn't blow up like they do.  And as for the cowardice thing, did you know that parachutes weren't issued to pilots in World War I because bailing out was considered a sign of cowardice?

Chute Shooting.....

Although I do not condone chute shooting, nor do I recommend it,
it was an action that happened in real life; especially in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in WWII. And, it is not an action that one can honestly accuse another side of doing with remorse. Both Axis and Allied, ETO anfd PTO, shot chutes with the purpose of killing the pilots in those chutes so that they might not have to face those same pilots again in combat.

On the other hand, in this WWII Air Combat Simulation where one can re-plane, re-GV, re-bomber, re-boat an extraordinary amount of times, who really needs to shoot chutes except those who have very low self esteem, or are very immature?

Dear Sigmund Patches:

I'm so glad you've shed the light on why we shoot chutes.  It was about to become a real problem.  Just shooting helpless chutes didn't do it for me anymore so I started shooting stray cats.  Now that the appeal of that has worn off, I was getting ready to shoot some homeless people.

But now I realize that I like taking out my anger on the helpless because I have low self esteem.

Perhaps the trouble began when my mother didn't breast feed me.  I saw all the other kids getting plenty of nipple and I just knew there had to be something wrong with me cause I couldn't suck mamas boobs.

Well thanx to this enlightening post, I can get rid of my rubber pants, put away my blowup goat and throw out my lifesize neud poster of mamma I put up over my bed.

what I'd really like to try is to shoot a bailed pilot while he's free falling. it's a real challange to try kill those who freefall and open the chute right at the last second.

anyone managed to kill a sky-diver?

A couple of times when the other pilot's zoom climbing and I blow their plane up and he's ejected, but the pilot momentum keeps him from falling (wonderful to get two almost simultaneous explosions).

I've not gotten a pure free floater while they've actually been falling at the speed of simulated gravity.  Guess I'll have to work on it.  ;)

I particulary like to hear them screaming as they fall toward the virtual earth.

Just a thought....Chuck Yeagar never met a chute he didnt shoot. :)

Who was it that mentioned "hit bubble".
If I'm not mistaken there AINT ONE in AH.
