I'd always have someone online monitoring channel one and the country channels.  If someone is naughty give 'em a warning.  If they continue, just mute them for awhile, the length determined by how bad they were.

Fun idea, but would the monitoring and enforcement required be worth the effort?  Even what constitutes profanity, especially with altered spellings, is not easy to determine.  

Smacks a bit of Big Brother or Red Light Traffic Cameras or Utopian Ratfinking or Small Town Social Compliance.  

Could inadvertently squelch honest dissent and constructive criticism even if sometimes clumsily offered.

Some might even revel in the notority of being chosen an Official Jerk and become even more obnoxious.  

Then again, enforcement could be simple.  One warning, two warnings, and third time account is cancelled.  

(Thus emerges a new vocation: Aces High jerk appeals counsellor.)

In Fighter ace ... msn zone they use moderators/sysops ,they would come into a room and watch when asked to if there was an  extreame problem with a player getting violent on the chat channels..   they would warn the player and remind them to behave or they would get banned until they reread the rules , after that if they kept at it they would get the 3 day ban , and then the perma ban if they didnt wise up and fly right.

the moderaters also helped with gameplay issues/training ect .

 they also  had access to the chat log so they could scroll thru it and see who was being the problem child ...


one thing i have to say is that the chat on channel one has cleaned up 100 percent from over 2 years ago .... back then it was .squelch 1 everytime i entered the arena.

For every word of profanity one part of the offender's aircraft becomes bright pink for 20 min. Post an arena-wide message that perk points are doubled *per pink component* when a pink colored aircraft is downed.

Maybe turn the icon pink as well.

I'd say private and squad channels are exempt.

There already are complaints about auto-filtering triggering to some parts of non-bad words and about "player"(?) mods that don't treat everyone equal.

How would that be if it actually had an effect on game play?

It could be easier than worring about 'hardness'. Simply turn on the airshow smoke for all their planes .
