Ideally yes Airhead, but do you really think this helps the deomocrats presidential campaign against bush? Now they cant say things like saddam is still on the loose. It takes away a weapon and an argument in their case against bush, certainly this is not good news for their campaign slogans.  Maybe they arent happy because it hurts their personal chances at the white house. So although they may honestly want saddam to be capured or similarly for the economy to recover I think a reasonable case exists that thee democractic candidates want neither of those things to happend now - during bush's term and the leadup to november 2004.

1)   Did they have a Search Warrant?

2)   Did they ‘read him his right’s’?

3)   Does he have an ‘LA Lawyer’?

4)   Did they hurt his feelings?

Wait till "Court TV" finds out about this....!!!

Grun, I could care less about the 2004 elections. If this discourages even one Iraqi combantant, and saves the life of even one American kid, then this takes presedence over politics.

Thanks for reminding me though- I have to clean up the dog crap out of the back yard.

Saw those flags too.  But they had the hammer and sickle up in the corner (and smaller), not in the middle like the Soviet flag.  Is Boroda down there?

I just saw video of this... mostly plain red flags, some with Arabic writing on them, a few with hammer/sicckle

Makes me think the Red flags mean something and they took whatever red flags they had ( USSR flags or not)

BTW: Hammer and Sickle is on upper left corner of USSR flag.

LOL :)

It should take precedence of course, and it is more important. However I think both of us know that the democratic candidates are now holding staff meetings on how to deal with this developent considering it will likely have a positive effect on bush's chances in 2004 and an oppososit impact on theirs. Likewise bush camapaign is having staff meeting about it too.

Anyway you know I'm cynical about politics in general.

Merry Christams my friend, this certainly was a nice gift.

Don't forget that Baath was a "communist" party.

Here is a pic I found that perfectly illustrates how we chased Saddam down:

"...it will likely have a positive effect on bush's chances in 2004 and an oppososit impact on theirs."

If the capture of Sadam leads to an improvement of conditions on the ground in Iraq, signs of real progress, then obviously it would have an effect on the next election.  But to think his capture itself will have any long term political effect is stretching it a bit.  Unfortunately, I suspect it will be business as usual in Iraq.

Has obviosly been a major objective of the US since the war started.
That will free up many troops for other uses.
I cannot see how it could attract more iraqis to the resistance. But I can see how it would attract them to the coelition.
But Im not an Iraqi muslim
The Iraqis will not imprison him for life. They will kill him.
Increadable that he was able to resist capture for so long by such simple but disciplined means. He must have had killed the men that made those hidy holes.

I was thinking that too Pongo... especially given that he was found in the town he was most likely to be hiding in and where our search efforts were being focussed.
