He's up in Toronto now. If you can't get a hold of him I can shake the tree a bit.

Great, a whole new group of people that know I'm an easy target and want to get a piece of me.

I downloaded it while I was playing City of Heroes last night.

Well...I was never a great pilot...I can be the first to admit that. I just had the ability to wing myself with great pilots. I mean...I wasn't a total squealing noob...I could hold my own, but I could never get to that "next level" like so many of the guys that are here now. In the very early days of RR I was a God...but the transition to FR for me wasn't very smooth and I could never really grasp it like I wanted to...

The only times I really flew well is when +Dead (Todd) would let me wing with him and I'd work off of his abilties (man we had some great times in shades accounts)...other than that, I just flew with the Nomads and would help come up with the nuttiest schemes that we could muster (night of 1000 Tiffs!, the drone wars, high altitude base captures...etc)

People like Badz used to torture the **** out of me...I tried for like a year straight to kill that bastard one on one and think I may have won maybe twice...out of a thousand times. I was one of those guys that would search out the hardest target to kill and do my damndest to beat them (chasing HR around for HOURS)...I rarely ever succeeded, but when I did it made it all worth it.

My home was always on the boards and in the chat buffers...I was the Nomad pitbull...you pissed anyone off...and they'd unleash me in chat for few minutes until Tiff would say "ok Brat...that's enough" and then it was back to my cage...

To this day I seriously think that all the old school players (older than me) banded together to teach me a lesson...they'll never admit that it was designed with the intention of driving me squealing crazy...but anyone remember "TopGunz?" Holy crap those guys had me frothing at the mouth for months...luckily though...someone else ended up with the award for sucker of the year and I escaped unscathed.

That was the thing about Airwarrior...it wasn't the game itself that made it so great...it was the community that was forged from it...I mean seriously...I consider some of these guys my friends after 10 years, and I've only met ONE Airwarrior in ALL that time...

I seriously wasn't kidding earlier when I said that I packed up my joystick into my exgirlfriends things with a note attached that read "You'll get more use out of this than I will now"

I haven't touched a flightsim in probably 4 years now? Any ACM I had is pretty much gone...I priced a few sticks the past few days and am thinking about it...but the demise of AW seriously broke my heart...I loved that game with a passion...and I don't know if I can bring myself to start all over again.

It's like skiing/snowboarding...I learned how to ski when I was 5 years old...and I got good enough at it where people would point at me and say "wow, that guys is really good at skiing"...

All my friends snowboard now and want me to try it as well...but I really don't want people pointing at me and saying "wow...that guy sucks!"

I have a vague recollection of TopGoatz ... I think from one of the newsgroups ... but it's all a blur now. I doubt I saved any of my postings from back then - I never do.

Quick... claim to be an ignorant foreigner!!

(Not a whole lot of EA bashing going on in here considering all the old AW's. I know I will hold a grudge for a long while.)

Hit it right on the head.  It was always about the people and the fun.  The only time the  game got to be a pain for me was when I took it too seriously and worried about whether I could be one of the 'best'.

But it was always about the people.  Having gotten to know Brat via AW I got to learn about his Grandfather who was a B24 Squadron Commander in the Pacific with the 63rd BS, 43rd BG 5th AF.  And I was honored to be able to visit his Grave at Arlington National Cemetary with my daughter a few years back.  Those things meant far more then anything in the game.

But don't let Brat kid ya, he was a damn good 'pilot'.
