Part of the problem was the idea in some folks minds that Ploesti was a single refinary when it was multiple refinarys within the area.

It was giving folks the option to hit other targets so the defenders couldn't just camp at Ploesti.  The defenders knew that one of the 4 days was going to be the low level raid to the main refinaries, but didn't know when.  That way there had to be some effort to cover more then just the single target.

Not much of a challenge if you know the bombers are going to the same place every day

The uber-scenarios came up on one of the mailing lists I belong to as well - lots of us old fartz there too. The tools and resources - and player capacity - in AH has already got me thinking of what is possible. I am sure there is a way to shuffle things around if needed.

Right now we are doing 4 frame scenarios once per week then a 2 month lay off then repeat and rinse as needed.

The big difference is that there is a lot more to do in AH than we we had in AH - Tour of Duty on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, Snap shots 2 days a week, CAP once a week. So 5 of 7 days are busy flying something more organized than what happens inthe Main arena.

What we do have openings Monday and Tuesday nights. The problem is this excludes the NON-US crowd from participating. BUT - If it could be set up so part of a frame happens during Euro friendly hours and a diff part happens during US Friendly hours that might be do-able also.

We are trying to think outside the box when possible.

So please pass along any good ides you may have.

Jordi. I'll try to get the preliminary write-up pulled together this week. It's already up to 7 pages ... but I usually put in a lot of commentary about why things are the way they are for the benefit of everyone involved.

These kinds of events only can happen once or twice a year - due to the time they demand by all concerned, the scheduling issues, and the emotional toll they take (and this one will cause some uclers). So if we had to wait until Fall or early Winter to get it scheduled the right way that's fine.

Ideally it'd be 3 missions a week for 3 weeks. The mission time I'm shooting for is about 4 hours max.

9 frames over 3 weeks and 4 hours a frame. That will be intense.

Well; it sounds as if Dok has a plan in mind; which is cool......

But if you want a real war of attrition; one that suits transatlantic time zones; then why not model a week in 1944....

Dok; unlike AW; AH has both night; Lancs and night fighters.

The Yanks can play being 8th. airforce; and the Euro's can do Bomber command... in real time.


Crossbow; the day/night strike on Peenemunde springs to mind....

Close ... right time period and part of the world.

Yes ... I've adjusted the number of bombers to take the armor of a 88 into account. But the 88 is the slowest, worst gunned bomber to work with ... and Vals and Kates are Navy planes.
