I thought it was a "I make lots of money to spend on crap, but I am still too stupid to remove the lens cap when I take a picture"-type thread.  My bad.

You can have your penthouse, (ie apartment) and the city.  I will stick with my 3500 sq ft 3 story log home on 20 acres bordering national forest on 2 sides in the northern rockies.
There how is that???? No ofence intended, my oponion is if you have it, spend it, and the best of luck....

We're heading out of town Feb.18th for Disneyland, however, that *might* be delayed if they're still building the garage.  Contact me 2 weeks before you depart, we'll get together!

I'm not edging in on his excitement. I'm not making fun of his dollar figures. I'm calling him on the fact that intended or not, the point of this thread was to brag.

Mentioning, casually, that he's dropped 100+k on toys while asking for advice on a camera that relatively few people can afford isn't a call for advice, it's a call for attention, and a primitive one at that.

He wants to show off his excitement? Great! I'd like to hear about these expensive toys of his... About his garage, and what's in it... I'm sure everyone would. If he wants to use his new camera to post pics of every cool thing he's acquired, I'm sure nobody will be upset...Just don't try to be clandestine about it.

I'm sorry, but in my moments of weakness, I sometimes feel compelled to react to displays of crudity.

As for your camera, Dripsnot, I'm sure it'll be just great. I've owned a digital camcorder that was $700 and it worked well. I'm sure a still camera of the same price, especially a Canon, will be more than sufficient for whatever it is you want to do.

I think it's gorgeous, Medicboy. You have good taste and I couldn't agree more with the concept of spending what you have.

Nice analysis but I think you're either very envious or misread my intent, The message is: I spent too damn much money in the last year (and the next 3 months) and I'm a fool for not spending alittle more for what I really wanted, a Canon Rebel. But go ahead, use the personal attacks on the name, continue your obvious-jealous state, I've got a pretty thick skin, you have to on this BBS.

Not sure what I'm supposed to be envying, here, except maybe your bulletproof sense of self-satisfaction, which truly is a gift. As far as material possessions and socio-economic standing go, I think I'll stay on my side of the tracks for the time being--at least until I get out of school. Thanks though.

Neubob, I've just read his posts with that voice of Robin Leech (Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous) now.  Makes it much more humorous.

Your analysis is spot on.  For being so, he'll cry "PERSONAL ATTACK" or claim envy.

I just find it sad.

I didn't exactly grow up wanting for much, and I want even less now, but when this kind of thing rears its ugly head it tends to put things into stark perspective for me.

If such stupid people can make buckets full of money, then what really is the value of money?

If money values Ripsnort, and I value money, then what does that say about my values? It's often a good reality check for me.

There sometimes is. More than sometimes. Alotta times.

Even though it probably doesn't apply here (what's the pay scale for Rip's job and his nurse wife?), it is besides the point I was making (you did quote me).
