dude! your foreskin is there for a reason. cutting it off doesnt make a bloody difference.
your doctor told you that to make a quick buck most likely
but i always was a cynic.....I once had a dentist fill 6 teeth that were perfectly healthy. he was taken to court 3 years later. unfortunately there was no chance i could claim, i was *advised* as there was no way of prooving that the removed bits of tooth were not decayed.
In most cases you'd be right, foreskin isn't a problem, but, like I said, my condition was unique. It is called phimosis(or something like that)where naturally-occuring scar tissue around the area in question prevents mobility of the skin during--umm, excitement. This lack of mobility promotes infection and can lead to penile cancer later on down the road.
That being said, circumcision is never a bad idea. Even for people without the problem that I had, it is far more sanitary to not have foreskin. Somethings just don't have much use on our bodies. The appendix and the tailbone are two other examples.
And the doctor didn't make a dime off of it. He's an internist, and made the diagnosis during a standard physical, while the guy who performed the operation was a urologist. Both guys did the work as a professional favor.
Don't be so cynical Mechanic, the vast majority of doctors really aren't in it just for the money.
