The Volusia has a retro look that reminds me of a HD softtail. Also, up to the '04's they all were carburated. Makes changing pipes or air filter/hypercharger additions easier < rejetting the carb > than remapping the FI.

My comment about the Triumph and oil leaks was tongue in cheek, had a Bonnyville back in the 70's that leaked like a sive. Something about those virtical twins that would cause the main bearing to self destruct.

No ones mentioned Ducati, always like watching and hearing them at Superbike meets but haven't really heard much about them from regular riders, or Moto Guzzi come to think of it. Are Italian bikes a bit crappy?

Eh...not quite. :)

Also, here's me at 15, now 18...stil ride this one weekly as its too much damn fun to put up.  2001 XL1200S straight pipes, Screamin' Eagle kit, blahblah.  The Ducati now has termi pipes, and some new fairings from when I went down at Barbour Motorsports Park back in October.   We also have a black 749, and a Capirossi Edition Monster 620.

If you want to know anything about italian bikes, please ask.  No problems to report of after around 4-5k miles, got it in Jan '04.  Some of the 2003's and early 2004 749's had a problem with the way the dealer set it up and it would stall while idling at stop lights, apparently it was a simple dealer fix.  I'm fixing to get into some WERA club racing after a few more track days.

First track day of the year is Barbour Motorsports Park and it is on March 18th-19th.  Check out http://www.sportbiketracktime.com for information if you want to get out there and have fun on the track, they have a group for every skill level along with highly qualified instructors.

Edit: Sorry for the big pictures, but if you ever get a chance go to to Suches Georgia check this place out; It's called Two Wheels Only and it's a great hangout

Street bikes always look better striped and taped. :D

I had a few bikes, the last one was a Suzuki gixer 750. The ones before that were GXS'R's only  1000's. The 1000 was death waiting to happen. WAY too fast for me. I push everything to the limit and my luck at deaths door step with that thing. I thought by getting a 750 I'd slow it down a bit. A little. But the smaller lighter bike meant it was easier to get the thing up on 1 an continue to do stupid things on. I will say I enjoyed the looks on peoples faces on the highway as we'd pass em on 1 wheel at moronic speeds. But I'm sure they were laughing at how stupid we were too.

I had alot of dirt bikes as a kid. And was always running from someone for ripping up or down something I shouldnt have. Had a few go down, all my fault of course, and all of the times I did go down were because I was doing something stupid ofcourse. Luckly I was never hurt, and never... Well I dont want to jinx myself at this point.

I sold the last bike, the 750 to make room and give me some pocket change. I had a good offer and there's always plenty more out there. I'd really like to get a ducati. But I may just wait around for a while for a soft tail. If there are a line of bikes, I'll always walk up to the soft tail first. Dont know what it is about them. Thats right Jackle. A harley. :P

I have owned one harley two hondas and a suzuki.  I am currently looking for a new bike but I havn't made up my mind which one.  I loved my harley and my goldwing and its hard to fault either one.  I am leaning towards the Harley because it holds it's resale value so well.

My favorite trip was back in 1990 when me and three buddies quit our jobs and went cross country for four months.  Sturgis, Daytona, Vegas, Reno, Glacier National, Yellowstone, Big Bend National, New Orleans, Crockett, Pacific coast highway, and a list of friends that we still talk too today.  I had plans to travel Europe on a bike someday but I probably wont ever get to that run at the rate I am going.

yup best thing about a harley it only gains value over time,,and the otheres loose value till the day comes that they are rare,,goldwings and vals just drop to nothing,,i got a freind who got a very nice 1500cc goldwing with trailer and everything for 800bucks,,lol

i like the soft tail too,,the one im part owner in,,is my dads,,he needed money for a down payment,,so i gave him 1000 down on it,,he is getting old and i wanna see him have some fun before his time is up,,i know the bike will be mine sooner or later,so no rush,,but i do enjoy riding it:) i think the soft tails are some of the best lookin hogs,,the fatboys are nice all so:aok

I knew that last part would bring you out! buahaha!

Seriously though. As much as I raz harley riders and bikes I've got a special place in my heart for them. I'll never forget my dads Harley soft tail that he had for a long time. He used to always bring me for short rides as a youngster. I guess that's why I like them the most over all other hogs.

As cool and as fast street bikes are, there's nothing like a nicely done soft tail roaring down the street.

But you Jackal, you bastige. You CHIGGER!

15 Kaw KZ100
16 Honda Shadow 500
18 Honda V65 Sabre
24 Honda CBR 600F2

I still own the CBR it has 48K miles on it, all ridden by me. Never been down, raced in the 8th mile many, many times. Hold track record "last I checked" for most runs in a day at 65. Was my work vehicle for 4 years in florida, rain/shine/mild cold..lol  No fair weather rider here.

Just got it back running after letting it set for a year. Planning on taking it to bike week in Daytona next month. Anyone else going?

I only had three bikes

Honda CB125N from '80 to '82.
Yamaha RD350LC from '82 t0 '96
and a Yamaha DT175 trail bike which I bought when the LC was stolen. It was recovered so I sold the DT.  Later it was stolen again and used in an armed  robbery.  My bike had an exciting life.  My worst accident was on the Honda when I  was blown by a gust onto a kerb in Wales  and broke my thumb. The joint fused and I can't bend it anymore.

I fell off the others regularly but it never stopped me.  The most terrified I ever was on a bike was a Honda VF400 a Brands Hatch racing school bike. I did twenty laps but scared as I was I never slowed down.  I went  straight on a Druids hairpin once and three times at Surtees, right across the grass.  I survived only to fall off the Yamaha on the way back to London in traffic at 5mph on a tiny patch of oil.

I really enjoyed my biking days except for the cold ones. I remember ice forming on my sleeves on night and my knees and toes going numb.  Character forming stuff.
I'd buy a bike tomorrow if I had the money to spare. But I suspect I would come to an untimely end with all my reaction times shot to hell.

I currently own and ride a '05 Electra Glide Standard. Owned a '03 Super Glide that I traded in for the '05.

Rode rice burners for most of my early years riding. Started out riding a 250 Husky dirt bike. Rode several dirt bikes for a few years before switching to street bikes.

First steet bike was a Yamaha 305 Big Bear, second one was a 750 Yamaha four stroke triple, third one was a  Yamaha 1100. That third one introduced me to road rash. Went down at 65 mph with the wife on the back. No serious injuries, we were lucky.

I ride solo most of the time now except when I take one of my granddaughters for a spin.

I'm really not into long rides. To me a long ride is a 250 mile round trip. I enjoy shorter rides and don't care for riding with more than a couple or three friends at a time. I do use my scooter to comute to work and back a lot. I find it one of the best stress releivers of all time. I also feel 10 years younger every time I ride it.
