Funked - in the USA, I agree with you - beer isn't drinking.

yup.  sadly even the european imports seem watered down here.  something about more than 5% alcohol content not being legally permitted to be called "beer".  hopefully my cousin will return soon with another care case.  she lives in bruges which is also in France though for some unexplained reason speak walloon.  silly Frenchmen.  :D

So if you get over here, storch, we'll go there, and then we can meet Saintaw, as Antwerp is in France as you know.

heh...  antwerpen , france.....  heh  im shure some of the flemmish wont be too happy about their latest annexing .... even though the french control most of belgium, (2 class system) at least they think they do and thats whats important for the french ....

BTW i second the suggestion of Chimay..  but a good Duval will also do the trick.....  and it isn't real unless you get a custom glass to drink each  beer.....

Im surprised noone has caught the storch dig yet.   uncultured swine...

Milwaukee's Best Ice had 5.9% IIRC. It was sold as a beer in Florida.

I don't think any American beer is above 5% in alcohol content.  If they are they must be called "malt liquor".  the "malt liquors" are very unrefined, in fact they are quite nasty.  but I could be mistaken as I often am.  ask the resident malt liquor expert Doctor Yo or one of his "homeys"  I understand that's what he has for breakfast he will have much better knowledge on this topic.

 just found this site http://www.taproom.com/beer/beerprf.htm

I usually drink Beck's, now I know why I like it better than other brands.

Hey what's the story behind "Proofs" in US liqueurs?
I was a bit disappointed when I got bottle of something with text "96 Proof" and... Well that didn't need any mixer.

As far as I know, "Proof" is simply % Alcohol x2. So 96 Proof would be 48% alcohol. And if you didn't need a mixer, it was either really good, or you're just that much of a man.

With regard to American Beer... meh. There are some regional breweries that I like quite a bit. Dominion here in Northern Virginia does some really good work (IMO of course), but I'm not really into the "Arms race" of Alcohol % either lol. AFter 5%, I'll just switch to Bourbon :p
