Ohio or West Virginia.. which side of the river is better?
« Reply #45 on: May 20, 2005, 05:21:54 PM »
Thanks Eskimo! I've got the feelers out already; a guy in Marietta I know has already offered to 'hook me up' with the local modelers old boy network. He rave's about the area.. which is what got my 'itch' goin' in the first place. I expect to be drivin thru to Muncie for the Nats this summer, plan on spending a week or so pokin around 'points of interest' in ohio and WV on the way back.

Lordy, but that's a nice little field there in Talmadge. Haven't met any folks from the Corsairs, but from lookin at their website they seem to have a lot goin on!

If you play your cards right you could make an Internet reality show.  Mid-North-Eastern clubs could compete by selling the quality of their club, flying field, conditions, cost of living, etc. to you.  The winner gets you as a new club member!

LOL! Not likely.. I fly like ass; put big divits in pristine runways, give saftey officers coranarys, terrorise local sun-bathing residents with low fly-by's for better camera resolution and enjoy eating customers with bright questions. My club here will be glad to get rid of me. ;)

Hangtime, On your way back from your trip, Go Through Parkersburg WV and take 50 East. It would definatley beat the ride home on the PA Turnpike. If your looking for a fun drive (Not with a Trailer), continue on 50 East when you arrive in Clarksburg. Windy Two Lane through the Mountains, It eventually turns 4 lane again when you get close to Winchester VA.

We take Old Route 50 in the summer, its the scenic route. In the Winter we take I68 through MD and WV.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Sure, both, a bunch of times.

Been all over Funked's neck of the woods a lot also. In fact, other than Alaska, I'm not sure if there's a place on the continent that I haven't spent some time in.

Listen, I'm just saying that I think Ohio and WV suck. Just my opinion. There's multitudes of other places that I think are better. YMMV - should go without saying.

if your in to doing stuff ohio isn't the place for you. not much going on. but if your in to doing lazy stuff then ohio is awesome. i live in SW ohio and it is ok. If it wasn't for the riots, racism, and indiana drivers this place would rock.

How did I miss this in the original post? Sheer genius!

To be honest, if you want a nice place with good year round weather, modest pricing and lotsa babes, the Lake Texoma area on the Texas/Oklahoma border is pretty hard to beat. I live about 60 minutes from there and land sells for $800 to $3500 an acre. I know of plenty for sale in that range on both sides of the lake.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Couldnt find what you were looking for?

You have to like Outdoorsy activities to have a good time, caving, fishing, hiking, hunting, rafting and boating.

If your looking for a great night life, Well, West Virginia has its spots, but nothing extreme.

Anyway, What did you do when you visited Nash?
