Picked up a copy myself on Wednsday.

Haven't had much time to play it, been sick with the flu.

I played 2 campaign missions- I think the campaign is a little lacking. It just seems more like a bunch of missions put together with the ability for you to gain rank, awards and keep track of your score. Was a little disappointed with this. Afterall, a box sim is supposed to revolve around the campaign/single player aspect.

The multiplayer is a little confusing, but I only flew twice in what I thought was free for all- but apparently it's not. So, in my stupidity I picked a purple airfield to take off. I find out that everyone else is various shades of green, and they decided since I stand out the most they were gonna gang rape me.

It's definitely much improved and a dramatically different game than the demo version that was floating around a few months ago. No more big puffs of smoke when your cannon shells hit planes, no more funny graphic anomalies if you use a Voodoo5, plane handling characteristics seem to have changed a little bit. Compression is definitely in- It's about like how Aces High does it, just not so much of sudden jolt when you get out of compression.

The graphics are excellent, and the planes models are very nice.

I noticed, however, on the Yaks they fudged it a little bit. On the 109 when you open the radiator flaps, it's a smooth animated motion where the radiator flaps open and close. On the Yaks it goes from close to open in an instant (no animation)... I don't believe the MiG was animated either, but I could be wrong.

All planes have WEP, I'm not sure if this is accurate or not.

I have read that sometime next week a new plane will be available for download (read this on some other board)- well the cockpit art that is so we can fly that plane.

Oh, and one more thing about the campaign- I don't know which squadron you fly for in the Russian campaign but for Germany you can only fly for JG54. Kind of disappointed on that too, I was hoping for more squadrons to be available and more squadrons in the game that you could run across.

Overall, not bad- but certainly lacking with the campaign aspect considering it's a boxed game.

You can create your own campaign,or there will be many user made campaigns for download. What it looks like they spent most of their resorces on making the game, graphics etc. and count on the community on creating the missions. The mission editor is very powerful.

I really like it,hopefully the ubi gameserver will be fixed up soon,to handle many more people.
Some bugs are still there (skin swap ,what was fixed in the beta, but it`s back  :( )
but they`ll be squased soon I`m sure.

Where this game really shines is the coop missions. You have to be in one to understand how much fun and how tensed it really is.

Good news, i know a beta tester and he told me the add-on plane coming this monday is a ground attack FW-190, he couldn't tell me the variant (hell he wasn't even supposed to tell me it's a 190 but i'm not gonna mention the beta testers name)but i'm guessing A8 with gunpod options or a FW-190F8.

This game is great, it's hurting my AH rank since i'm playing it soo much.

Also the cockpits are photo realistic, i'd love to have the 109 cockpit in AH, and i'd love to have the allies have to guess how much ammo they have left while us Luftwaffe guys get an ammo counter.  Il-2 has this of course

some screenies for your enjoyment

decending down to strike

Torpedo Away!

Scratch one Romanian Destroyer

Overflying the ship

Oops, forgot about the escorts

You can guess what happend next

P.S. these screenies are JPG, they don't do some of the textures justics, especially the water textures (drool)

OK, I picked it up.

Seems pretty good right now, however there is just one thing...

Who was it that was saying "Now this is how a 109 should fly" about the 109 in the Demo?

Well, the 109 in the release version rolls as slow, or slower (and I think its slower) than the 109 in AH.

There has been work on a user add-on that auto-creates a campaign from information provided by the player, giving practically endless possibilities.
The first versions for this was already doen for the beta, and when the game is released outside of the US, it should be improved dramatically (the creator don't have the full version of the game yet)

He mentions the added features here: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/Forum35/HTML/004234.html

Got it and playing it all the time. I agree with the German campaign side. I wish you could pick a Jagdgeschwader instead of being stuck in JG52 for the duration.
