I just love how everyone assumes that "furball" types ONLY "respect" people that fly "TnB" planes...  Dig that one up, would ya?

Basically, when all is said and done, no matter if you want to win the war or not, there are only two types of players.  The ones who will try to turnfight a Spit in a Mustang, and the ones that won't.

The former group TRIES.  The latter tries to not have to try.

This translates into the FH up/down debate, if you think about it.

You should have picked a better example.   Unfortunately, the player picked to represent your views is pretty much describing himself in that post.  xMarine (in game call sign) is rather vocal and free with the salute every time he is shot down.

He's moved on to getting shot down from just bailing at the first sight of a challenge though, eh?  It's a start :D

Ack-Ack – I don’t think Xmarine’s online persona in any way invalidates what he said in the text I quoted.

There is a nucleus of players that think that they are “better” than the next man or “more brave” or “less timid” – because they engage in air to air combat for its own sake, with no objective, and yet are disdainful of any other form of gameplay which they lump into a category with the somewhat disrespectful tag of “toolshed killing”. I used to think of AH as a simulation of WW2 combat which did of course involve operations by land, sea and air. Indeed, the AH website used to describe the objective of Aces High as “Capturing territory through the use of air, land and sea power”.

I believe you are in the gaming business, in which case you of all people know well that all these online games – whether it’s Quake, Silent Hunter, Aces High, or even Chess involve the subscriber sitting at a computer screen, engaged in a contest with an opponent. There are three possible outcomes – victory, defeat, or stand off. Beyond that, all are just games involving icons on a computer screen.

So the notion that the crowd who engage only in air to air combat being more brave/less timid or more skilled is nothing more than a pile of steaming bovine excrement. Xmarine’s point is that it’s a GAME – played by twisting a stick against icons on a computer screen. No game or gameplay method within a game poses any greater risk to the player than any other game or method of playing. Some people, like rshubert, want to experience the full spectrum of WW2 combat. The reaction of some people is to try to shame him into playing *their way*.

>>But as I noticed, as did my squaddies, others would "come along" to just vulch. So we'd move to a different front and do the same thing. Finally, I'd had enough as did my squaddies, you'll notice Odd is a lot more calm today becuase of it. <<

Hehe, stick and move, stick and move :)
Filth rarely posts his disgust in here, so he musta been po'ed. We have seen this so often, and it does get old. However, we don't switch countries, to get away from it. I am sure it happens a lot over in Bish and Knitland. Some nights I get pissed and log because of it, other times we just move on elsewhere and leave the vulch dweebs to themselves; they usually get overwhelmed and run away to safer sectors and start all over again.

I said it once, i'll say it again...

Before I said this in a reply to Roscoroo's thread "Rookland needs a good kick"

When the bombers kill the FHz, it takes the fun away from the fighters. When the fighters have nothing to shoot, they leave. And when they leave, there's no cap for the bombers, which in turn causes no capture. The line has been drawn in the sand between the fighters and the bombers for quite sometime. Either have to get over it, or go somewhere else.

If you are one of those people who just HAVE to kill the FHz, do it at a back base. One day people will realize when you kill the FHz at the base you're trying to take, the enemy just comes in higher and faster from another base. And please, learn how to take out the VH. Everyone is quick to yell "YOU TRY BEING THE GUY IN THE GOON WHO GETS SHOT DOWN BY THE FIGHTERS TAKING OFF FROM THE BASE!!!" Get over it, what happens when you don't kill the VH? They up GVz, go to the city, or they kill the fighters there vulchin to keep your precious bombers clear to kill they CITY and drop troops.

Believe it or not, bases CAN be taken without killing the FHz. Used to happen all the time, and sometimes I still see squads doin' it now. Trust me, if the bombers kill the VH, and head straight for the town, if there's people there, they'll cap the field.
