Furball arena ?
« on: October 13, 2005, 06:48:33 PM »
Hey gents,

Looking at the latests threads about fighter town (bless fbomber, dantoo & and 9GIAP helpers for creating this map) I've been thinking (yes that happens sometimes lol) that furballers should have their own arena, their own score counting, and their own maps (3 fields and a hole LOL).

People tend to say that they should go to DA, but as the name says its an arena for duels. Its not nice to see a guy coming to cherry pick while you are dueling, that happend to me while I was dueling with Fariz, and its the worst.

H2H is not appropriate since there is only 8 players, and settings/connectivity changes with the hoster, and there is no score.

I'm a war winner, so is my squad, and to see a good part of the country pilots in endless useless fights is annoying, since the perk mults do include em, and it annoys em to. And I don't count the uncapturable fields surrounded by hordes of spit5, nikies and La's, wich block any strategy you can create.

So if they have their own arena and their own score & perk mult everyone is happy, and I'll be glad to play there when no squaddie is online :)

Perks ? ... is that what its all about ? People are pissed at me cause I won't contribute to their effort to pad their perk account. WOW !!!

I have over 19,000 perk points and I can GUARANTEE you that no more than 100 of those perks were gained by winning the war. How many perks do you have ? ... are the majority of them due to WINNING the war ?

You want perks ... learn to fight ... then take out some early war plane and you will have more perks than you will know what to do with .... and when you finally amass a huge amount of perks ... guess what ... they don't mean squat anymore.

I'll remember you the perk mutliplier also limits the planes available to each country, and the cost of perked planes. I have 1800 fighter perks only cause HT doesn't allow reactivation of old accounts, and when a 262 costs 350 perks it makes a big difference to me.

Anyway the perks are just a side of my arguing, you want a furball arena or not ?

I've heard there is no resistance whatsoever at any of bases in offline mode. You might want to give that a try. It'd keep you out of our way in the MA.

Well...that sounds all well and good cept for this......

The squad I fly with are a bit of a mixed bag.....Got a couple that at times like land grabbing. Not alot but they do every now and then.....

Got a few that Love Base defense and starting fights. (I fit in there alot) Just fly to a base and get em upping to get a fight going.

We have a few that like escorting heavies that want to land grab. They don't care really about the war effort at all as they want the fighters to get yup so they can fight while the grabbers grab. I even carried bombs once. Flew a goon, Drove and M3, Floated and LVT, Skippered a PT. All out of boredom.

So Do I split my squad into pieces so each can go to the areana they want?

OR...and this is a great Idea.....So We just fly where we want and do what we like in the MA. Where everything can happen at the same time.

Redtop, nice to see someone who thinks a bit before posting and do not only "post bash".

I did not see the problem from that angle, and your point is good. Anyway when you just fly over a base to see defence coming up, those people do this to protect their base while you don't really care....the idea of "everyone is playing their own game" is probably HT's position, but if the people who just fly to kill were in a different arena, we would probably not need the upcoming TOD (wich I fear will finish like the combat theater).

EDIT : Let's try to not fall in personal attacks without arguing trap.

Well....the TOD could very well be another CT with more options.

Personal attacks isn't my thing.:aok  so you won't have to worry about that from me Bud. I just think , from all the reading of various threads about Furballers this and toolshedders that is going no where.

FT on the Donut Map is , IMO a really really good thing. It gives the furballer a place to yank and bank til his hands hurt. I know cause I spend a big amount of time there.

HOWEVER.....I did get bored one day with it , if you can believe that and went to the other part of the map where some strats were being attacked. I had what was the best fight of the day with a 109 , F6F , SPIT IX and a P51B. All 4 of em with in 5 minutes. Killing each one before the other could come to thier aid. It was great fun.

IMO if each map had this type of thing as FT on it , AND each type of player would RESPECT the other and thier style of gameplay , then quite possibly the need for TOD wouldn't even exsist. That's a stretch given all that has taken place between the Furballers and Strat players.

BOTH have thier place. Been said and rehased a ton of times already and my opinion really carries NO weight at all.

a Furball arena would be fine with me.

I truly think tho , that the MA can accomodate both , if people would just realise that this GAME is so insignificant in life.

Maybe I'm just learning this , but I think I do have a good handle on it.

I hope you are ready to get insulted by half the members of the "place the name here" squad !

Yeah like you said if every map had a furballer place it would do the job, I had GREAT strat fights on the donut map while the shooting drones where at the center, but at the rate we get new maps this wont happen in the  five next years. ( I want to say LOL but it ain't funny, I bet I log in five years and ndisles will be on )

Anyway I know this post won't make a miracle like the "no night" lobby group did.

Am off to bed so I'll leave this post to the horde, please be nice to each other and respect the topic :p

You know ... I subscribe to the exact same feelings that Red does.

What got my goat in this thread is this ...

and to see a good part of the country pilots in endless useless fights is annoying

So in your eyes what I chose to do is "useless" and "annoying". Wow ... great way to make a first impression.

If you want people to act civil in a thread, then don't start off with statements such as that.

yep.... 17,000 perks here and I don't think that in all these years I have ever been on the winning side when the "war was won"

Why would you want to?
