I can see why redneck bars would be a no-no for you. Usualy in a bar fight it is man against man, not man against a woman, but on the other hand a good Texican female could take ya in a heartbeat I suspect.
Haven`t had grits in a while, but I`ll take em over tea and crumpets anyday. Never could abide by the extended pinky thing you prissy Brits are so fond of. :)
That`s Geetars hoss. I prefer electric, but a good steel in the right hands is a pure work of art.
I thought you said you never made the 5 to 6 mpg statement. Ooops, you`ve done it again.  Now we know why her name is BRITney Spears.
Someone from your country talking about silly hats is kind of ironic, but mostly hilarious. :)

rshurbert, now list the countries that play organised cricket seriously.  If you can, of course.  Then, because things should be judged correctly...let's compare populations, or perhaps square milage.

But don't think Indonesia won't be included as a cricket playing country....and please correct "Korea"....that should read "SOuth Korea".

:D :aok

That's right, I never did - until here.  Thought it would make you feel at home, as it's something else you won't find here! Yeah we've got some silly hats here, but unlike where you live, no-one feels the need to wear a 10 gallon hat on a 2 pint head.

Curval! Are you following England v Pakistan at Lahore? I've just looked at the scoreboard. :( Pakistan put on a massive 638-8 declared after England's 288. England already 5-1 at C.O.P. We'll never make it.

You have been propagandized into believing that the solution to a problem is to make a new law about it. That crime is prevented by laws. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It's the other way around. You have been propagandized into believing that guns are the solution to everything when in fact they only create more trouble. More accidental deaths, easyer access to leathal weapons in case of domestic disputes etc etc. Having a huge number of guns means that more criminals will be also armed with them - partly because they expect to meet armed resistance. Back here it's a major news if an armed robbery happens somewhere.

Having laws works back here. If I see a loose dog I report it and the officials take care of the business for me. I don't need to go around swinging my gun and get shot by another loonie swinging his.

Now we start the denial thing again. It`s a set routine when you trip over your own feet. Oh bud, I feel right at home here in Texas. American by birth. Southern by the grace of God. :)
Yea I agree on the hat thing in your case. It`s just the opposite. A ten gallon head (mostly empty space) with a 2 pint hat.

spock... you can outshoot me?  maybe... but I doubt it... what gives you this special knowlege of my shooting ability?   I shoot with our police and swat and pretty much outshoot all of them... are you a better shot than American police?

But... if you are such a good shot... you must shoot a lot..  I have shot since I was 7 or 8 and have in some years shot several thousand rounds a month for years... I still manage to shoot a thousand rounds a month most of the time...  I shoot with people from all walks of life here from dentists to mechanics to housewives.... I don't fear my neighbors like you do.

Soo... how did you get so good?  you feel it is ok for you to shoot thousands of rounds a month but to deny it to your countrymen?

And... when do I "wave the flag around"?   I simply think that you are dangerously insane...  How do you walk the streets or drive if you live in such fear of your fellow man and his dangerous homicidal tendencies?  I mean... if you can't trust him to not go insane and shoot you how can trust him to not jump the curb (kerb) and run you down?  Not cross the line in oncoming traffic... certainly the chance of dying in such a case would be more than that of being shot with a handgun.

as for the dog... I hope he does come back... I'll put another round in him...

I really can't believe that some of the aussies here aren't offended by your pompous brit attitude toward them and telling you to go home.

in any case... better you stay there than come here and get a chance to vote.

The steers would probably be too frightening for you if you are so afraid of people as you claim.
The other you can forget. No love connection for ya in Texas.

Well, just by memory, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Japan, S Korea and probably a dozen more countries have all been represented in the World Series.

But to answer your question more fully, baseball has been trying to figure out how to do a world cup of baseball without screwing up the schedule of the regular summer season.

When the world series started in 1903 (close if not the exact year) it was to bring two competing leagues together and baseball had not spread worldwide as yet.  (although Cuba an DR had leagues IIRC)

The World Cup of Football started in what the 50's?  Transportation and logistics were much more streamlined and football was much more widespread when that was begun.

By the by, who won the last Olympic Cricket match?

Err..individually maybe...but not by "professional" teams.

But to answer your question more fully, baseball has been trying to figure out how to do a world cup of baseball without screwing up the schedule of the regular summer season.

Actually, according to the International BAseball Federation web site the 36th Baseball World Cup was played in Holland this year.

Somehow, and I have no idea why, everyone kinda missed it.

When the world series started in 1903 (close if not the exact year) it was to bring two competing leagues together and baseball had not spread worldwide as yet.  (although Cuba an DR had leagues IIRC)

So?   All the more reason to call it a North American Series.

The World Cup of Football started in what the 50's?  Transportation and logistics were much more streamlined and football was much more widespread when that was begun.

Transportion has come a long way.  Logically this would make a truely "World" Series of baseball easier to accomplish, particularly given the myriad of countries that play professional baseball that you have pointed out.  But it doesn't.

There are six leagues vying for the MLB "World Series".  The teams that play in those leagues are the only one even eligible to compete for it, right?  ALL of those teams are American teams, with the exception of Toronto.

And you are arguing that it is infact representative of a "World Series"?

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright.

By the by, who won the last Olympic Cricket match? [/QUOTE]

I don't know.  I'm always busy watching the sychronised swimming events.

Who won the last baseball gold?.................anyone?  I have absolutely no idea.  lol

:rofl
