The more you play the more little things start to annoy you. That's always the sign to take a break. You'll know how long, because you'll get 'the bug' again, you'll start thinking about flying and miss it. You'll come back re-invigorated, flying will be fun again and you won't be so easily annoyed.

If it's not fresh and fun don't do it.

No offense FokerFoder, but I think this sentence right here is why you are no longer enjoying the game....

Personally, I started to become really hung up on wanting to land every single mission, or constantly work on my K/D average, getting almost angry if I didn't land 2 kills, and flying a lot more timid than I did at the beginning when I just had fun.

Then very recently, partially thanks to a squadmate of mine (Thanks Aub!) I was online and a base was under attack. And something "clicked". I decided no more mr competitive... I just wanted to have fun and play the spoiler. So I upped, and upped, and upped some more. I must have died a half dozen ways in 5 minutes, in all silly sorts of manners, like ramming the radio tower on climb out trying to dodge the bullets of a vulture. Eventually the CAP over the field weakened enough and I was able to fully up, and just laughed my butt off as I had like 6 planes chasing my A6M5, and watching as a couple would auger and crash as I'm dodging, dipping, ducking, diving, and dodging. The game became as fun to me as it was at the beginning.

That's not to say I'm not interested in landing a mission. I just stopped caring about the stats, and make myself personal goals that have nothing to do with stat padding. If a base is under attack, my goal is to stop that C47 at any cost. If we're attacking a base, my goal is to do my CAP or JABO and return home safely.

The more you care about winning a "who's d@#k is bigger" contest, the less you care about having fun.

Just my 2 cents. =P

Take a breather...spend some quality holiday time with family and friends. When you return, grab a Typhoon. Fly it as you would a Jug. Grab air  with DT's.
Take 2-3 pelts. Grab more air. Go home.

Foker, take a break.   I played for 3 years straight, started getting fustrated with the low alt buffs, dropping bombs then augering, suicide typhoons diving on the base,  enemys that wouldnt  fight even when they had an alt advantage and I run out of gas trying to catchup with them.  And if I rtb low on fuel, then they turn and fight or I get cherry picked.   The game was starting to look to me no different than when I watched my son play MOH or Wolfenstein online.  Hordes of guys running around shooting each other.
I took a  year off from the game and now I got the AH bug again,  I resubed last week, and even though nothing has changed I'm having fun. Sure people are still doing dweeby things but now I just dont care,  I go to a different spot on the map and find a CV battle or buzz a base to see if anyone will up and fight.  If not then I just logoff and read a book

As far as your video woes go, I have an Nvidia 5200 (128mg) with an AMD 2400 system and I get about 40-50 fps.   I dont what MB your using but I've built about 6 - 7 pcs in the last 5 years and (for me anyway) I noticed that MBs that use a Nvidia chipset dont work well with ATI video cards

take a break, read a book, you'll be back ;)

that about summed it up for me a while back....

then i said F it changed my name and became a spit dweeb.

i augered when there wasn't a fight nearby

i flew NOE into bases of 20 enemies taking off, and engaged as many as i could.

i upped getting vultched 30 times in a row to make the guy run outta ammo, then chased him down in a lala and killed him.

and i found a new love for the game

if you dont have one, make up a shades for a few months and try it out. you may like it.

I agree with this entire post.

There was a brief period, some years ago, when I paid attention to my stats.  Didn't take long before I noticed that I was flying to improve my stats, rather than to have a good time.  So I stopped engaging multiple enemies, stopped heading for targets that were higher than me, landed every kill I got (whether or not I had gas and bullets left), and quit trying new maneuvers just to see how they'd work.  One evening I came to the unpleasant conclusion that I was now flying like the people I'd made fun of for years.  So I stopped looking at my score sheets, went back to having a good time, and have thoroughly enjoyed the game ever since.

I agree here, if you are flying fighters just to look good on paper that can only sustain you so long. The desire to fly a certain way has to come from whatever it is you love about air combat. Is it balls to the wall twisty-turny stallfights? Is it flying like your favorite air combat heroes from WW2? Is it flying for the satisfaction of just pissing other people off? The list is endless.

But, however you fly, the desire to do so in a particular way has to resonate with what it was about WW2 Combat Aviation that got you interested in flying in the first place, if it's not you won't enjoy it. The most important thing is, once you've found that secret soemthing that "Does 'it' for you", don't allow others to coerce and bully you into doing things you don't enjoy.

How many AK's fly? I know if I did not have the BK's to fly with I would be outta here. They make the game fun for me. I can understand why, if you dont have anyone to fly with, you are feeling as anoyed with everything as you are.

Taking a break is a good thing. But if when you come back, you still have no one in your squad to fly with, it might be a good time to start looking for a different squad. As hard as it can be to leave a squad which had a good group of guys flying in it, if those guys dont fly anymore what else is left? Its not disrespectful to leave a squad because no one flys and go look for a squad that has players who fly often and are on often when you are.

In regards to what you fly. That is a load of crap, so dont think you need to prove that you are not a spitdweeb, or a LaLa dweeb or whatever. I fly a spit, Im called a no skill spit dweeb. I fly a pony and Im called a cherry picking pony dweeb... Even if Im on the deck turning with everything that comes at me. You cant win this battle. Its already been won in the minds of those who call you a dweeb. So fly whatever the heck fighter you want to fly and have fun.

And flying a 190 and turning in it... EVERYONE SUCKS. There isnt a 190 in the game or pilot that is going to turn a 190 into the MA wonder of the world. They are simply not good enough right now to stand a chance with the vast majority of the plane set, in anything but energy fighting. When I fly them I feel like I am punishing myself.

It doesn't matter what your in, if you kill some of the more...er...vociferous (Fair?) vocalists on 200 then they will call you black and blue, because they lost, and you won...Laugh at them..I do, there is one that I do love to wind(x) (Or is that WhingX?) up. As he bites every time LOL.

As said before, take a break, then come back when your ready, if your desperate to fly with a group of guys, then I have the perfect place, 71 Sqn, we are always desperate :rofl
