So there's still no substance on this one, just random allegations by communism victims?

No, no...I never said that.  Actually, the discussion seems to have evolved into something with a lot more depth, thought and information...regardless of one's position.  Not to mention several very cogent points to consider.  Please excuse me if I gave a different impression.

In fact, your original post, Funked, made what I think is essentially the same point; empty troll, no facts, no references and a raft of convenient assumptions.  In fact, it appears that the instigator just dropped this well-baited line into the water, and hasn't been back since.

No...I intended to comment only on the original basis for the thread as being no more than an ignorant troll, not to suggest anything otherwise about other posters (even though I strenuously disagree with a particular line of thought being expressed).

I notice a real desire on the part of a distinct group of people in here to hunt for every opportunity for America-bashing they can find and, like anyone else, I get tired of it after a while.  However, this being the country that it is (warts and all), they are most assuredly entitled to express their views...which more than can be said for many, many places on earth.

In the final analysis, what could be more appropriate in America than healthy Constitutional debate?  We should have more of it, along with far more education on the matter.  I simply won't subscribe to using such a lowbrow approach for initiating what could be a healthy and reasoned discussion.

Did the government request Google or did it pay Google?  These are different issues.

the USSR was never a friend of USA, they just used the USA to open a 2nd front to help USSR to defeat germany. as soon as germany surrendered russia went hostile toward america.

Ive met so many russians and other eastern euros these past 10 years or so.  All seem to be really decent and intelligent people.  Before about 1994 I had never met a genuine russian.  And mind you, I havent traveled out of my state in about 10 years.  I believe we have a large russian immigrant community here in the PNW.  I dont think there are many communities in Russia of american immigrants.   Are there?

Hm. One of my former classmates spent 10 yeas in Texas, got married, had a first child, and in 2000 decided to move back to Moscow with family, so his second kid was born here. I met many Americans who came to Msk for academic exchange or work and after their contracts were over tried to seek for an opportunity to stay here.

As for Moscow English-speaking community - check http://www.exile.ru, it's a marginal news leaflet, but they have a big audience.

Moscow is an interesting city, sometimes - too intersting, a big village and a biggest city in Europe, a whole country itself, two times bigger then Portugal (for example), and many foreigners love it.

Anyway, here in Msk we have a huge problem with migrants. Sometimes I think that in 10 years I'll have to study Azerbaijanian language.

Brooklyn and Brighton Beach and the Rockaways have become russian enclaves.

Listening to a Russian immigrant cab driver gripe about the Yankess with a brooklyn accent is the eptiome of high comedy around here.
