I logged of quite disgusted after that but then I thought... wtf Ill just ignore him and logged back on... had a few good fights and went to bed..
Whats disturbing though is the attitude of "Winning at all cost" and "The end justifies the means"....
A online game is a game where there are humans on both sides of the gun who are playing the game for entertainment. Players play games to have fun.
Its extreamly important to respect your enemy and if your enemy isnt having fun fighting you then you have lost no matter the outcome of the game objective. You have lost because you most likely are gonna have one less enemy and if that spiral keeps going youŽll be alone playing the game. You may have beaten the game, you may have beaten the enemy but you are alone in a online game, you have lost.
This is why I said its more important to have good (personality wise) enemies then good allies. I much rather fight a good sportsman then a dolt.
Anyways back to the disturbing attitude its "Winning at all cost" that is used in the head of athletes to justify doping. If for a gamer "Winning at all cost" is the single most important objective then the morale barrier against cheating isnt there anymore. Im not saying that the player who offered me cash to leave rooks would cheat. Im saying though that the attitude to "Win at all cost" is what justifies game exploits, lame gameplay and in the extention cheating.
Thats what worries me most about this episode, how strongly the attitude of "Winning at all cost" is beeing enforced in rook land atm.
