IMHO thats NOT true.
Of course always depending on the skill level you already have.
As a ten year game vet, you might have to look for 1 vs 1 training from members of the training corps.
But as the "average MA player" i think you can alway learn in the TA. And ive "taught" many a regular MA player in the TA.
Learning: That might mean explaining things to a noob. In having to explain difficult matters in easily understandable, few lines you learn to understand them better yourself.
I dont think time in the TA or DA is wasted. It might not be literally translatable to MA, but you certainly learn about dogfight, about your plane, about tactics, about E management and a whole bunch of other things. The thing is not only learn what to do in a specific situation, but also learn the how and why, therefor being able to "translate" it to toher situations and fights.

I FULLY AGREE. You have to haev the willingness to change your ways and to LISTEN. Listen and THINK about what someone tells you! Then decide if you want to apply what he proposes or not.
