Probably one of the very few things I agree with Bush on. If you're in an English speaking country and plan to work/live here, speak the language or else.

What Sigma said, it's the United States National Anthem, not Mexico's, not Cuba's, not any other latin countries national anthem. If they want to be Americans so much they can at least make an attempt to learn english. I know immigrants who have been here 4 years and speak better english then a co worker who came here 10+ years ago.

The National Anthem is the National Anthem, take it or leave it. We don't need pop stars adding their own "personal touches" to it when they perform it....and we certainly don't need some British music producer to get a Cuban rap artist to record it in Spanish.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Bush can think what he likes, but the rights of the People to sing the anthem or any other song in any way they please is protected by the Constitution of the United States.

a constitutional amendment is due here. The official language of these united states is hearby proclaimed, english. Although we should get to it before the 1/3 spanish language only population meter is pegged.

Most people already agree english is our national language and I think most people would support the idea of an amendment saying so.

75% of the states are required to ratify an amendment to the Constitution.
