If I'm not gaining on a runner I will usually turn away and regain Alt. It's not worth the time to chase some guys. Sure they will come back with E/Alt but so what.

I had a similar situation last nite, only I was the one who extended.

I'm in a Pony D with 4 kills in the can and get into a disadvantaged situation with an LA at about 300ft alt. So I drop the nose and extent. I trim it into a shallow dive and the LA gives chase. Now he could have chased me all the way home and I could have cared less. He was not gaining on me. At about 2K back he turns away left so I parallel him and we both bag some alt. We re-engage with me slightly higher. Turns into a real nail-biter of a stall fight and I finally got him with my last few rounds.
(wish I'd have filmed it. I keep forgetting to turn the recorder on.)

I could have taken my 4 kills home and there is nothing wrong in that.
The LA could have chased me the whole way which would have been a waste of time for him. But he didn't. His turning away resulted in the fight getting re-engaged and it was a lot of fun for both of us. At least I think he had fun. I sure did.

:lol :aok

nah, not so much remidial classes, i'll just give you some tips :)

turnfighting in a pony with 100% fuel can make it hard, the auxilary fuel tank offsets the centre of gravity, and makes the plane a lot harder to control on the edge of the stall. that's why most people take 50% and droptanks:aok

that and just some basic energy retaining BFM's and some nice simple ACM's should do you a world of good;)

I seriously doubt Coors even reads the BBS.  Even if he does, I doubt even more that he cares one bit for what any of us might think of his tactics or his flying style.  He's been flying P-51's that way for many years, and he plays to win.  Period.  If you DO manage to corner him, dont be surprised if he still hands you your butt on a silver platter.  He can TnB a Pony if he wants to.  After this long I doubt he feels the need to prove his skillz to anyone.

As for actually GETTING him to turn and fight, its not that hard to do.  Extended extending is a common enough tactic in Pony drivers.  They are just waiting for you to turn around.  So rather than chasing them halfway across the map, once you have some distance between you put the plane into a shallow climb and get some alt, then turn and let him chase YOU if he wants to.  Let him climb up to where you are, let him chase you, and let him follow you back into territory thats friendly to you.  Once he's close enough reverse back into him and give him the choice of "extending" right into enemy territory where he'll be low and have a long run home, or try to reverse and run right there and give you a chance at a shot.  Just be sure thats what you want.  Its all fun and games while you are making fun of the lamer runtard, but then when you catch him and he kicks  your arse, its not so funny anymore.  :)  Rather embarassing actually.

How about this situation.

Trying to take an enemy field wth less numbers than the defenders.
First flight in with a 109. Alt 6k.  Get to field and a friendly is being chased on the deck by 4 cons. Dive in, scare 1 off,  kill 2, check 6 and now your being chased by a con.  Drag him a little away from the field, get into a great turnfight, and your on his 6. Getting ready to fnish him, check 6, and see  cons, 2 low , and 1 high all 400 - 800 back.   Get your wing blown off before you get a shot in.

2nd flight in with a 109. alt 6k. Get to field and a friendly is beind chased by 4 cons. dive in again to clear him, but this time see 2 co-alt cons follow your dive. Clear allies six, kill 2, get blown away.

3rd flight in with a pony 12k. Get to field, see your buddies being ganged.
BnZ a bunch, kill 2 n1k's, 1 La, 1 Pony, 1 Hurri Mk2. Run out of ammo, hit the deck and announce on range rtb ammo. check 6, see 2 la's drooling, thinking to themselves.. "look at this puh-z  runstang."  see 2 friendlies that you saved earlier engange the la's, and they break.  RTB and land your kills.
Check dar and dot radars. Notice that friendlies are now over enemy airfield with cap, and enemy dar is only 1/4 of grid instead of full.

4th flight in.. B24's for town.

Once I've caught him and forced him to fight, he's an easy kill for me ;) I flew with/against him in AirWarrior as well. He flew with the same style there as he does here.

The only hard part is getting him to fight heh. I feel the same about many others that fly the same way. Just the other day Ezeepkns jumped my Tempest with a Me-110. He had all the Aces, alt, speed etc.....and still got his butt handed to him :D

Just love these "He wont fight the way i want him to fight" whines. Cracks me up. Some people aint going to play into your hands, deal with it...
I love it when people chase faster planes than the one they're in - really stupid! think about it, just for a couple of seconds think a little bit in to the future...

I don't get why some people whine about the RunStang tactic... You can't TnB in a 51, only idiots try to knife fight splits and LaLas in a Stang.
:huh :huh :huh
that is the dumbest comment ive read on this board
