Ha....my mom called me up the other day asking if i wanted to committ blasphemy with her.  Apparently our local catholic priest insisted we are committing blasphemy if we go see this movie.  As someone pointed out in the mass, its FICTION.

And besides, if they devouted this amount of energy to prosecute pedophile priests as they do telling us what movies we can and cant watch, they wouldnt have any problems.

So pass the popcorn...we're gonna go see it.

It is amazing that so many are happy to watch something like Howard's "Pearl Harbor" that they know is false (based mostly on books they've read that are not nearly as well known as the Bible) and are not swayed in the least in their knowledge of the facts. I suggest that the Catholic church (of which I am a former member) is less secure in its membership than most history clubs are in theirs.

It is hilarious.  I cannot believe anyone is actually taking the book/movie this seriously.  OMG!  It just occurred to me!  Someone is going to create a religion around all this.  I bet Tom Cruise would fund it!!

So he lied.  Nice.

its all a conspiracy and puplicity stunt.   The studio made a secret deal with the Pope,  and the Catholic church gets a percentage of the ticket sales.

Two months from now it'll be "DaVinci who?" :lol

Maybe you didn't understand what I wrote. I said he was quoted as having said "that's how it was". Very presumptive to assume the quoter was telling the truth or accurate.

The Church is not threated.  It does like the truth to be told.

never forget, the church is made up of sinners.

as far as claiming to be true, that's the beef some have and that's due to Dan Brown's claims in the book.

You are right.

It is now apparent that the bishops as a body, meaning the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), were incapable of doing what the National Review Board has done. It is inconceivable that the bishops and bureaucracy of the USCCB could have produced the forthright analysis and program of reform that the NRB issued in Washington on Friday, February 27. The NRB has done what the bishops should have done. The report is a great gift to the bishops and to the Church. Now the question is whether the bishops are capable of receiving the report, and acting on it. If not—and the initial responses are not encouraging—they will, as the report suggests, further undermine the confidence of the Catholic faithful in the authority, competence, and moral integrity of their leaders. That is the “Crisis in the Catholic Church in the United States.” The report leaves no doubt that clerical sex abuse opened a window, exposing to sight a much larger reality of nonfeasance and malfeasance in the leadership of the Church.
