The Church should very well be worried. I saw a show the other night on HBO that made a very good point. History is pop culture.

Why is Paul Revere a national hero? Longfellow wrote a poem about him, and Longfellow happens to be one of the best known American authors.. uh... ever... but why not a gentleman by the name of Israel? His ride to warn the colonists was 15 times longer than Revere's. The whole problem being, the midnight ride of Paul Revere sounds alot better in a poem. So eventually, it weaves its way into the history of our nation.

I could easily see the same things happening to religion, especially since it's open to alot of interpretation.

I'll watch the Davainci code, and I'll enjoy it, why? Because I can.
Say what you want about a sombody attacking your religion if you want to, all your doing is proveing to me how much faith you actually have in your religion.

ITS A MOVIE, ITS  A SCIFI MOVIE, GE OVER IT!, in about a year it'll be on the scifi channel at 9pm on a wednsday night. right after stargate sg1.

Anybody feeling like their religion is being attacked by a scifi movie really needs to get a grip.
I have been putting up with this caca on teh news for 3 days now and I'm over it.

( done venting now)

Bingo - we have a winner.
You are exactly right. Most of The United States of America history has so much to do with appearances. Seems we didn't escape our roots as much as we thought. We're still a bunch of prudes putting on airs and that's the painful truth of it. The only difference between the USA and Europe is the business model. And that's another painful truth.

Not quite the same Roscoroo. You're label on the Koran is not even half as derisive. Still, I'll give ya some credit. Be curious to see how long it stays there. Maybe I'll link it to some "other" forum.

A movie (fiction) based on a book (fiction) contradicting another book (fiction) which contents are accidently basis for some religion (fiction). Let's try and have a factual discussion about it all... Yawn

If you need something to worry about do so about the total lack of chemistry between the main characters in said movie, that's a reason for concern...

Got the facts wrong Roscoroo.  Should you want to verify what I say, the book "Unspeakable : Facing Up to Evil in an Age of Genocide and Terror"  by Os Guiness is an excellent starting point.

As a child, he lived in China at the outbreak of WW2 in the pacific.  A bright guy who writes in an even tone.  Tells the truth.
