Eminem: Man of the Hour?

Eminem is a piece of crap. As a "real" musician (ie one that plays guitar and really writes his own music) I am always shocked when a prefab , push start on the tape player so i can talk/rap over it, "musician" gets popular and gets called passionate. I am not an old guy and I still think his stuff is garbage. He does have a good sense of rhythm as do most rappers but thats about where his talent ends.

Even if he doesn;t mean he is going to go out and kill his wife the teenagers that are listening to it don't know that.

He can talk about talent when he learns to play an instrument.

Ok rant mod off

And I am an old guy and I havent got anything against it at all
I just read the lyrics and heard the song, and I find it interesting. The lyrics would do fine as a stand alone poem I think, and it works okay together with the music.
I really think that you guys should stop discussing why the kids love this guy and his music, and instead ask yourself why you yourself  hate him so much. Yes he uses foul language, but so do the main characters in most movies that comes out and gets popular with a common audience. Yes the mentioned lyrics are very violent but so are must of the stuff that comes out from hollywood these days.
I wont say that the abillity to provoke is allways enuff to prove quality, but in this case I think it is. The song "kim" uses violence and foul language in an extremely "naked" and unbearable way, and I have no doubt that there is a very skilled artist behind it. As I see it its not Eminem that uses foul language or is violent, but the characters in his fictive universe that do. Remember guys that its allways easy to reject new kind of music, food fashion etc. the real challenge is to understand the new music.

If you can meet that challenge, you are not doing the same mistake that your parents did when you heard MoodyBlues, Beatles, or the mistake their parent did when your parents heard Glen Miller.

I followed that link, I won't even bother calling them "lyrics".  Stupidest thing I've ever read passed off as "entertainment".

He's going to make a fortune on the media frenzy.

Also as for Elton john, apparently M&M is homophobic (or should I say, he likes to pretend he's homophobic to sell a lot of albumns <oops did I date myself> ) and Elton thought of the "duet" as a way to hold out an olive branch instead of building up walls (saw it on MTV so you know it's true).  After all, Elton is, you know, whatever the PC word is for gay.  Is that "alternative" or something these days?  I can't remember.  Where did I put my teeth?

Anyone remember Vanilla Ice? Same crap different package. I mean, come on, the guy's name is Marshall Mathers III for christs sake. You'd have personal issues if you grew up with a name like that too

"Music" for morons.  Madonna, Eminem, Elton John together don't have the IQ God gave a frying pan.  Who cares.

BTW, who gives a crap if the "kids like it"(other than another kid)??

Trying to decide if i will stick a Miles, Coltrane, the "Doors", or Steely Dan CD in the player tonight.

I was thinking the same thing.  Vanilla Ice is currently a salesman in a skateboard shop.

Eminem huh... *caugh*. If you call that music you've never heard a dog yowl at 4am. And I bet the dog would win a sing-off.

*eyeballs CD rack* Let's see here...
Garth brooks
Guns 'n' Roses
Metallica
Aerosmith
Alice in Chains
Pearl Jam
Creed
AC\DC
Clint Black
Travis Tritt
Backdraft soundtrack
Interview with the Vampire soundtrack
Galdiator soundtrack
Beethoven's Greatest (burned CD)
The Tractors

Not a bad list of music if you ask me. This stuff you can sing to or just kick back and enjoy. Rap is something I gotta agree with cabby on...

... And I tried to express my opinion Kieren.

It took me some time to put it together, as discussing this kind of cultural stuff is difficult when it has to be taken in another language than your own.

Is the quote above an opinion? - Nope!
As I see it its a man telling the world about his taste in music, and saying that people with another taste in music is morons. I simply think its too easy, and too stupid to qualify to be called an opinion.

Do like me an tune to talk radio.  I can't stand most any "music" anymore.
