Ouch, yet another painful game.  Tigers just didn't show up for this series.  The way we played, the Cardinals deserved to win.

Nah, Choocha is too busy complaining how the Cardinals nourished Mark Mcgwire while he was doing steroids, therefore the Cardinals should be banned from baseball or something.  Throw 'em if you got 'em I guess.

I loved how on one come-backer late in the game Pudge made a point of waving off the pitcher.

And just some history for the casual watchers to show just how BIG this moment is:

The Cards are back in sole possession of second-place all-time in World Series wins to the Yankees at 10 (who have more wins than the Cards have appearances, even at a hefty 17 tries at the Fall Classic).

The last time a team won a World Series the same year they opened a new stadium was those same New York Yankees in 1923.

The last to win it at HOME the first year playing in a new stadium was the Boston Red Sox in 1912.

And now, a new version of my Avatar

Ok,

Detroit is stacked full of young guns.  Verlander, Zuymaya, Roodney, Bonderman ...thier combined average age is 23.

Ya,

they made a lot of errors...they are young- kids really.  Look for the Tigers to be the new Braves- always in the mix for a long time to come.

I feel bad for Mike Marroth, maybe Detroit's best pitcher who was shutdown by an injury half-way through the season.  Next years rotation:

1) Kenny (Pine Tar) Rodgers
2) Mike Marroth (fantastic pitcher)
3) Justin Verlander
4) Bonderman
5) Nate Robinson <- they need to dump him.

Thats a hell of a rotation + Zuymya and Roodney

100 wins for the next 5 years.  Cards will be eating scraps.

+ its only a matter of time untill meathead gets caught doping, then he will be back to selling bannas.

Choocha, you DO realize you only make yourself look like more and more of a bitter and uninformed moron the more you open your mouth, right?

The simple fact is that the Cardinals played the post season the way they had the potential to play ALL YEAR. The mystery isn't why they won the Series, it's why they struggled so badly during the regular season.

The Cardinals out-pitched, out-fielded, out-hit, out-managed, and just plain out-played Detroit. Every excuse you can come up with in the world--the layoff, the cold, age/experience, injuries and so on, etcetera, etcetera doesn't change that fact. St. Louis was just simply the better team at the right time: the team they began the year as.

That's NOT to say Detroit wasn't tough, just that the Cards were tougher.

SWEET!!!!!!!!

I was watching the local coverage after the game, and it was crazy. 2 1/2 hrs. after the game the stadium was still 1/2 full, and Cards players were walking around partying with the fans.

I got to go to 2 games in the 1982 Series, and I was wishing I was down there for this one.

NATEDOG you and your brother have good taste! :D

My favorite signs "Hit it to the Pitcher!" & " The Experts are Idiots! "

Eckstein's Vette should have been Red. They talked to him, and asked what he was going to do with it. He said ... Keep Speizio away from it! :lol

Heck of a way to break in a new stadium. I could hear Jack Buck's " GO CRAZY FOLKS " call in my head when they won. :noid

Have to salute Jim Leland, class act all the way. I hope the Tigers come back next year, and beat the crap out of the Yankees.

Frodo

man, choocha is still talkin smack?!?!?
the Cards make it to the playoff every year... they are that good. they had an injury filled year, so they only won 83.... but they made it, and got hot and semi-healthy at the right time. they will be back next year.
and you blame the tiger's youth? the cards have a bull pin full of rookies, Reyez, the starter who crushed the tigers in game one... a rookie. Rolen had a shoulder injury, so did Eckstein, Puljos, a hammy... Edmonds blurred vision and headaches... not to mention our rookie Duncan... don't get me started on him... say what you want, but the better team played tough and won...
oh and steroids and hgh?... look at your own team, they got all that and pine tar too.

Some gems from our friend choochoo........ Enjoy :D

Frodo

The Tigers have three pitchers that can hit 100+ mph on the gun...amazing. None of them are older than 23. Joel Zymeya (sp) can and did reach 105 mph. 105 mph !!!!!! That's got to be the record. Now, my point, the tigers have all these young pitchers + thier farm system is bursting with even younger arms.

Tigers Nation Will Reign Supreme

I am a Tigers fan - so I'm a bit biased, but get used to the Tigers winning for a very long time.

Zumaya will make the Cards his huckleberry.

Sorry Cards. Game 7..you need Dream Weaver on the mound.

Lets see what Puljols does with a 105 mph heater.

Tigers in 4...Bring out da Brooms

We'll see if Puljols can stay in the box and turn on a 105 mph fastie. The only man in the majors that has hit Zumya consistiently has been Ken Griffey... hand speed + courage to stand there.

Pujols is the ultimate HGH, Steriod (designer to beat the tests) head who excels when AAA mid relief steps in to pitch.

Pujols is the garbage man who steps up in garbage time.

Verlander is starting game one. The garbage man will be on a world stage in
35f weather and a pitcher thats going to bust him inside with 100 heat.

He will be exposed for what he is and has been this postseason.

Look for Jeff Weaver (aka Dream Weaver) to be very emotional tonight, he grew up in the Tigers organization and was the ace of the staff until they sht canned him cause they thought he had head problems...something about pot, booz and sexual escapades on board the Tigers jet.

I hope for the Cards sake that the team chemist comes up big. After all, this is the organization who featured a 6'5" roid monster- complete with acne, hair loss and other signs of roid abuse and packaged him as baseball's great hope.

To bad they can't test for HGH or other designer meds, if they could- Meat Head would be back on the Island where he came from.

Kenny Rodgers (aka "The Gambler") was dealing it....pine tar and all ..LOL.

I swear I saw Meathead shooting up between innings.

And of course..he was a no show.

Damn..no more Birds chirping...they must be nervous ..LOL

You better win game 3. Nate Roberston is Detroit's weakest pitcher (by far). If you don't win this one- then its going to be a 5 gamer.

Also, you better jump on Nate early...if you don't then Lyland is going to call out Zumya to help Nate out. If the game is lost then Zumya will rest. If you see Zuyma on the mound, then its all over for the Birds.

Now the Birds will have to face Detroit's two strongest pitchers:

Jeremy Bonderman
Justin Verlander

Good Luck..

I hope meathead dosen't run out of syringes.

Justin Verlander is the AL Rookie of the year and he will be Pitching against Jeff Weaver (aka Dream Weaver). Verlander didn't do so well in game one because of the week off. His fast ball was in the mid 80's- this from a guy who touches 100 mph routinly.

Look at the gun early and see if he's in the mid 90's. If he is, game over, because he'll be touching 100's and he will be un-hitable.

Weaver is a low character player who will choke tonight, just like meathead (aka hgh, steroid head) has.

Tigers will win tonight.

100 wins for the next 5 years. Cards will be eating scraps.

+ its only a matter of time untill meathead gets caught doping, then he will be back to selling bannas.
