Clutz, Here's what I do. I usually fly an F6F with full loadout for attack missions and this may vary slightly by plane but it should be pretty close for most.
I climb to between 8-10K. The reason being that I want to hit maximum dive speed at the point I release my ordinance, be it bombs or rockets, to provide them the straightest flight path possible. You'll have to determine what this alt is for the plane you fly.
Hold altitude until the target field is visible to you without magnification. You want to be at the edge of, but not directly over the target field when you begin your dive and moving at full speed in level flight. You may have to roll back and forth a little to see the feild below you and gain proper position.
Once in position begin your dive onto your target. Zoom your view in to clearly see the target object you're going after and adjust your dive path pointing your pipper at the far edge of the target (hanger, ord, etc.). Once your comfortable with your dive path zoom your view back out. At this point the target object may dissapear if you're not close enought yet. Don't worry it will come back into view shortly.
As the target object comes back into view re-align one last time making sure your plane is in a straight, stable flight path. As you approach about 2K drop your ord and pull back on the stick (in an F6F at this point the airframe is stressing, creaking and beginning to shudder... compression is a concern in some other planes). Be careful here as some planes (the F6F for example) have a tendancy to want to rip the wings off if you pull back too hard.
Now that you're climbing again hit auto climb, WEP on and select your next set of ord if you have it.
As you slow to 200 mph indicated loop over, WEP still on and dive to your next target following the same proceedure.
The less alt you have (thus the less dive speed), the more you will have to "lead" your target (i.e. aim past it).
In a fully loaded F6F with 2 1000 lb bombs and 6 rockets taking out two hangers at a V base is easy and taking out all 3 is possible.
I usually go 2 rounds leading with my bombs to lighten my plane and see if I can bring the target down without using my rockets. If not then I use the second pass to finish it off. If you want to do it in one pass lead with your rockets then swith to bombs and let em fly on your first pass You can let the rockets go above 2K.
This takes a little practice. Come back and let me know how it works for you.
