Daubie, a couple of things: yes, there are people who like to tell everyone how the game should be played, but, if the guy you're talking about was a trainer, then you'd have listened to him, they know what they are saying and they can be trusted.

On the other hand, and I'm telling you this not being an expert, warping is mainly a connection issue, upgrading your pc may help in this, it can handle better the stream data, but, essentially, to avoid warping, you should improve your connection to HTC servers.

And then, there are the guys named WarpAlot or something similart to that. They have it down to perfection. When I asked said guy to please cut it out, he told me to stop whining cause it is just a game.
Just to avoid confusion, he admited doing it and anounced it on 200 right before he did it. Not sure about the name. Might have been IWarp, WarpAlot, CblPullr etc.
Problem is, I dont think there is a coad fix for this other than film, send, let HT deal with them.

What is shown in the graphic is exactly why another sim I was involved in in the past removed the ability to toggle out of the game.

FWIW, the "warp from your gunsite to your six" that's shown is not accomplished by "pulling the cable".

I dont see how it works. Years ago when I would be playing in college, I had a busted cat5 connection that would pull out of my router at times. So unless I wedged something in there to keep it from coming out, it would just fall loose on its own. Sometimes it would fall out and it being right by my PC i would quickly push it back in while playing. It was out for maybe 5-8 seconds, if that... but i would still loose my connection to host.

All the times it came out, I was never once accused of "Cable pulling". Every other thing in the book yes, but not cable pulling. I dont see how its posible.

not really the point morpheus. not many people complain when an enemy simply vanishes to a 'host lost' disco. sure its annoying if you chase someone for a while then they go poof at 5k no proxy, whatever.

the main problem is those that warp around like mad and then resume normal connection after you have missed your shot.

intentional or not, who can tell for sure? its still a bum deal for the player who gets shot down by the warper that was in thier gunsite a second ago.

Wow Filth. Where have you been? I see this almost weekly.

This is bad but one night a squaddie and I chased 400+ mph warping B-24s up the hill on the tank town map. I was in a F4U-4, squaddie in a P-47N both at over 400 mph and couldn't close on the guy over a sector. He had just upped from his base too and was, as i said, going UP the mountain while we were both coming out of dives. We both filmed and submitted our accounts of the incedent.

Had the same thing happen to me one evening and right away I thought "cable puller." Of course being the curious type I had to try it out myself.

My grandson plays against me on a LAN connection when he visits on the weekends, he's only seven so I haven't allowed him into the MA's yet, but watch out when he does come online. He's getting better every time he plays.

Anyways I set up a LAN room. I know, not exactly the same as a connection to the online areans. Anyway I launched from his comp, then launched from mine. I came up on his six and began wiggling the connection in the back of his computer. Nothing happened. He continued to fly straight and level. I tried wiggling the connection in the router, still nothing.

I slid the connector in and out quickly. Still flying straigh an level.

I pulled his cable out all the way and plugged it back in.
"Host Connection Lost" came up on his screen.

I realize this is not conclusive proof as it was only a LAN connection. But after this as far as I'm concerned, warping is an internet connection issue, or the result of an overburdened machine.

Sorry Bat, I'm a literal kind of guy, you call someone a cable puller, I envision someone yanking their cable connection. If what you meant are the culprits are running a client side program that is delaying the packet delivery to enable warping I'll gracefully bow out of this discussion now before I embarass myself any further.

The smoothing code would most likely negate your testing when dealing with an AC thats flying straight and level at a constant speed. Just FYI this is a very touchy subject for HTC and you are playing with fire by posting stuff like this.

In response to Dedalos post, I used to have a squaddy named "Warpy" he always seemed like a good guy, and I have fought him since leaving that squad and all seemed well. Just throwing my .02 in on this so the wrong person doesn't get burned at the stake.

There is DEFINATELY somthing going on, too many planes only warp when yer on they 6. Theres enough people seeing it for me to believe. I know what Ive seen myself.

The thing that makes people think about "cable pullers" when they see warping is the convenience of the warps.. "He only warped when I was on his 6!!" But ask yourself one question..

How often are you focused on 1 plane to see if he's warping or not, unless your are on their 6?
