"I'm a farmer, and yes, there are cats around. And they will attack people."

Every farmer I know has cat(s) for the necessity. Most of us however don't have them in the house, - a housecat and a farmyard cat do not share the same job, - and in my case I am no cat-fan anyway.
As for the attacking part, prepare for attacker-rabbits, lethal-mice and deadly-smallbirds.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

ok suave.. we get it.. you don't like cats.

the reason I suspect is the same reason that some like snakes.. to get a reaction.. to get some attention.

mcfarland...  cats attacking people... ripping their eyes out?   where do you get this drivel?   Oh wait.. you think man is causing global warming don't ya?

Sheesh..  cats are easy to kill if they get out of hand... much easier than snakes.   they are much more useful in killing rodents and you don't have to be the host of a nature program to figure out which of the ugly critters is venemous.

In all the time I spent in the south I have to say that water mocs sure appeared to be attacking people.

But... shot loads in revolvers are the best for having something handy.

A country without snakes is a good country.

"It's an old myth thta snakes will chase people."

Standing in line for the Open Air Theater at Udorn-Thani, talking with a few friends while the line moved slowly to the ticket booth..just after sundown.

A pale snake about 8 inches long comes out of the grass near my jungle boot and strikes 3 times in succession, very quick.. but ..bounces off every time. (I dont think he could get his fangs to stick into the boot :)

Friends and I moved back, the snake came at the toe of my boot and struck at it, again.

By this time I was laughing, I mean ..what's the lil snake gonna do, drag me off into the bushes and eat me? ..ROFL!

I picked up a brick from a loose pile nearby and dropped it on him when he struck again.

Standing orders were to bring any snake into the hospital on base if we ran into them.

Imagine our surprise when the Doc told us it was an Asp.
If it had gotten up my pant leg or into any skin, I would have been a very sick puppy quite rapidly.
Seems that little snake kills a lotta people over there every year, because it's aggressive and lethal.

Myth .. uh huh.
Only if you haven't been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

I'm referring to American snakes. The only aggresive American snake I've ever seen was a water moccasin, and that was when I cornered it. I went on me way, and it went on its way. And yes, cats will attack people. One attacked me little brother when he was a baby. He still has the scars. One grabbed hold of my pant leg one time, I gave him a kick into the front yard. I'm a farmer, do I own cats? No. Do I have plenty of snakes around? Yes. Do I have problems with rats and mice? Nope. Not a single one. Can I tell the difference betwixt a venomous snake and a harmless one? From 10 yards off. Not that difficult. I am scared of anything? No, I have no reason to be. Man is the dominant predator. I know there is nothing to fear in this world as long as you take good precautions, and aren't a fool. Am I trolling? No, I really feel this way. I beleive man should respect this planet and its species, we aren't the only ones here. I want to change opinions, I want to inform people of the evils of needless killing. Well, we are. All other critters have more reason to be afraid of us than we of them. We've been responsible for more extinctions than any other single species, and we can kill anything that attacks us.

well mcfarland... most of us don't host our own nature show and get all dewey eyed about snakes.

Every farmer I have ever seen thinks cats are just fine for killing vermon... Every bit of farmland around here has snakes and mice...  if they have cats tho... no more mice...  better yet.. no more snakes.

you are a strange guy.. you think that cats will attack people yet you think that snakes won't.. that if a snake bites someone it is the persons fault but if a cat scratches someone it is because they are... are what?  try to take the person down to eat em?   cats simply will not attack humans   I am sure everyone is getting a bellylaugh out of what you think cats are.

My guess is that you were so traumatized by a cat when you were a toddler that you have somehow made them into maneaters in your mind.

we can do without snakes.. any good they do is better done with the more efficient  and less dangerous feline species.

play with your snakes...

for the rest of us...  and, to get back to the thread...  shot loads in revolvers work the best to make the planet a better place.

Electric fence will do, might need your own generator to power the fence
