yes as Max said backup files first
then insert WinXP CD, reboot, boot from CD.
then it will give you options to install over existing ( rewrite C:\windows folder )
ask if you would like to install new
but you will need to FIRST, delete/RE FORMAT the hardrvie
then after you do that you can create a new C:\ Partition in the NTSF file structure and install a New fresh copy of WinXP
then load your drivers for the Motherboard/soundcard/video card etc.....
( if you built your PC, you should have a CD for the Motherboard with drivers on the CD, once you get to this point let windowsupdate take over and download all the necessary updates......
and be sure to download/install the correct Video Driver for your video card......
edit: I guess I should have asked if you have a prebuilt pc ( HP, Compaq, Dell etc...) or if you had a self built PC ( Clone ).if it is prebuilt, then you prob only have what they call a restore disc.........
