never forget. history does repeat itself. I've seen videos and pics of the trade centers burning and falling, but I've never seen a picture of one of the planes about to hit (except for the one of the guy standing on top of the trade center and you see the plane behind him.)

Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

When it had all collapsed...metal in the shape of a cross, still stood.

to all the falling, and the love ones of the falling. :(

I was in 6th grade when 9/11 happened. My teacher got a call from another teacher, and she ran and turn on the T.V. in the class room. 5min later the 2nd plane crashes into the tower. I've never forgotten that moment in my life. I just hate kids my age these days. "Who cares it happened 5 years ago." "Who cares its GB's fault." "Oh yea I remember it, but it was so long ago."  I really want to punch these people. :furious

So 6th grade... that's like 11 yrs old:

so you were born in 1990 +/-

Next time somebody says that to you, remind them:

You could have met someone who witnessed the first flight at Kitty Hawk, lived through 2 world wars, the depression...

That man could have met someone who remembered the assassination of Lincoln.  He may have fought in the Mexican War and the Civil War, could have worked cows on the Chisolm Trail.

That man could have met someone who remembered the cold at Valley Forge.

Just three long lifetimes seperates us from Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin.

Six years is nothing.

I was a Senior at the time (well, should have been, anyway)...  That day was insane.

School pretty much just stopped.  We could do whatever we wanted, really.  I chose to drive around to meet up with my friends at their various places of business.  I've never been in so many near accidents driving around.  Everywhere I went, everyone had something like those thousand yard stares of soldiers while driving around listening to the radio.  I saw many, many crashes.

One of my friends worked at a Mobil.  It's a hangout for some of the police in town.  They were running around not sure of what to do.

The next few days were spent running a convoy to and from Stop & Shop.  My friends and I pooled all the money we could together and just started filling up grocery bags full of food and water.  We made several trips a night.  We were far from the only ones.  I have never seen such a mountain of relief items piled up at our high school.  It was huge.

That Enya song, "Only Time" was playing all the time, and to this day it still makes my eyes water.  It's the song that brings me back to those times.

In a way, it was a beautiful sight.  The entire country - heck, almost the entire world - was pulling together.  I had AOL at the time and remember reading comments from all over the world expressing condolensces, sympathy, and support.  It was comforting, and heartwarming to be a human living in the Free World.

Things sure have changed in six years.

to every last one of you putting your lives on the line so I might be able to live in peace.  Regardless of any disagreements we may have, I am sincerely grateful and in your debt.
