Guy must have been a total lightweight panzy.
He would have been laughed out of the old AW. :)

No, he's talking about all the Koreans where they become so enveloped in their alter ego (it being millions of times better than their real lives) that they throw away their real life to play the game. They will literally play until they die. The Japanese call it becoming "closed in."

Many Korean boys die at their computers and consoles every year.

Myth.  There have been only 2 verified cases.

The 30-year-old man fainted at a cybercafe in the city of Guangzhou on Saturday afternoon after he had been playing games online for three days, the Beijing News reported.

Paramedics tried to revive him but failed and he was declared dead at the cafe.  The report said that about 100 other Web surfers "left the cafe in fear after witnessing the man's death."

China has 140 million Internet users, second only to the United States. It is one of the world's biggest markets for online games, with tens of millions of players, many of whom hunker down for days in front of PCs in public Internet cafes.

I wonder what he was playing :noid

Bah!  No way.  He had a health issue.

That's never hurt me before :)

Forgotten, but back in the game.  :)

Very likely. I've gone without sleep for 72 hours, was very tough but I never felt my life was in jeopardy. He must have had a health problem.

If he was, he was self-employed.  Virtually all Chinese run "gold farming" companies have dorms in which the workers live and they don't have that much time off to spend 72 hours consecutively in an Internet cafe as most work 6-7 days, 12 to 15 hours a day.

I recall many more cases than just two.  I read about at least 5 cases just from South Korea.

I've played WoW, more than my wife enjoyed. It is still the addiction in computer games. I am among the brazillion experts in this so trust me insofar as I also didn't go to medical school so your trust shouldn't be quasi absolute but you can't kill yourself doing anything unless your constitution has a flaw which could be exposed in any endeavor pushed beyond the typical. Your parents will appreciate it if you don't push the limits, you can trust me on that.

Once again, fiction becomes reality.

I hear ya...I read a short story as a child called SPADS AND FOKKERS, by the same guy that wrote Jonny Nemonic (sp?)...Anyways these ex-vets plug into this Holographic dogfighting game while hopped-up on amphetamines the military fed em during war.

Forgot about this story till I had played AHII awhile....in the MA late at night alotta people would be drunk or high.....it hit me how fiction had damn near become reality...the only thing we dont have is holographic games yet...(but dogfighting is so much better in first-person, not third-person anyway)...or the ability to bet cash on a dogfight ...

And since I started bingeing on AHII my eyesight has gone to crap...almost becoming cross-eyed, and got pain and swelling in my neck as well as back pain.....My prediction, you will soon see Lawyers advertising:"Have you suffered due to playing on-line games? then contact Suchnsuch & Soanso...We'll fight for you, and get all that you are owed for your pain and suffering!!" ...Someone here may own HTC in the future...it really isnt that far fetched...In fact U'll probly have to sign a waiver when CT finally comes!!
