Every time I read about another marathon gamer dieing, I'm reminded of a sci-fi book I read long ago (in the dark pre-internet ages) about people who would plug their brains into a computer network and get so caught up in it that their bodies would waist away.
Once again, fiction becomes reality.
I hear ya...I read a short story as a child called SPADS AND FOKKERS, by the same guy that wrote Jonny Nemonic (sp?)...Anyways these ex-vets plug into this Holographic dogfighting game while hopped-up on amphetamines the military fed em during war.
Forgot about this story till I had played AHII awhile....in the MA late at night alotta people would be drunk or high.....it hit me how fiction had damn near become reality...the only thing we dont have is holographic games yet...(but dogfighting is so much better in first-person, not third-person anyway)...or the ability to bet cash on a dogfight ...
And since I started bingeing on AHII my eyesight has gone to crap...almost becoming cross-eyed, and got pain and swelling in my neck as well as back pain.....My prediction, you will soon see Lawyers advertising:"Have you suffered due to playing on-line games? then contact Suchnsuch & Soanso...We'll fight for you, and get all that you are owed for your pain and suffering!!" ...Someone here may own HTC in the future...it really isnt that far fetched...In fact U'll probly have to sign a waiver when CT finally comes!!
