Seems like the whole kink in any system that's put into place is that the 'feelings' of illegal immigrants always comes before what is lawful and right.  Used to be that I thought this was almost strictly a democratic flaw ~ turns out that republicans have that same ball-less flaw too.

Let's not forget about the florida wet foot dry foot rule either. This is a law that needs some rethinking as well. They said the illegal mexican aliens would be fined 10,000.00. This is so for every 10k taken from an illegal immigrant (as if they would be able to collect it) it goes right to a cuban migrant who makes it to shore in florida. For every cuban that makes it ashore they get 10k and are able to collect social security with in 5 years of living in the U.S. We aren't able to collect social security until we are 65 if they still have the money then. These are some things that don't get spoken about too much by the dept. of immigration huh?

The US has always set different immigration policies for specific countries that we consider to have oppressive governments, or who we have other political interests with.  For example, we let in entire boatloads of Vietnamese immigrants, without making any of them swim and without adjusting immigration quotas for other countries.

It's hard to draw a parallel between our national policy concerning Cuba with our national policy concerning Mexico.  Yes, the quality of life in Cuba is arguably better than the quality of life in parts of Mexico, but the whole political prisoner and nation isolation bit we have going on with Cuba makes our policy on Cuban immigration a special case.

It's not quite apples and oranges... more like comparing tangerines and oranges.  They are similar issues, but it's definately not the same situation.

There won't be a shortage of labour (or labor as you say). There are many many candidates out there who want to move to America legally.  If it's true that America needs workers and so many illegals can find work then there is plenty of work for legal immigrants.

It does seem a logical?

Yeah, sorry.  I think that's not even a word.  ballless?  Looks odd to have three L's next to one another.  But then with the little hyphen there, it doesn't look right either.  So ~ I don't think that's actually a word.

Don't bother prosecuting thieves either.  After all, they are just looking for a better life.

I didn't say that you shouldn't prosecute the illegals.. just that you wouldn't have to.    better to do the arrests that do the most good... for every 100 employers you arrest and jail...   100,000 illegals will simply leave.   Any that stay can be arrested when they get caught.. if they get caught.

It is just so much easier and effective to arrest the traitorous scumbag employers.    It is sorta like.. you can understand why an enemy soldier does what he does but a traitor really sucks.

Hmm... I thought the American god was rights for the individual milo?    Nothing wrong with making a buck tho.

I am just saying that if some try to compete for the "mighty$$$$" by playing fair and others do it by using slave labor and making everyone else pay to make it worth while for the slaves (free health care and housing and schools) that....

It is a real violation of individual freedom... a real violation of the real American way.

You are not comparing like with like. Thieves are criminals. As far as I know it's not a criminal offence to be illegal. If it was the prisons would be full of them. My sister was illegal back in the eighties in New York. She worked damm hard and even paid taxes. I know many like that. I know of some who run businesses, pay their taxes and hire Americans citizens. Are they criminal?

The reality is that America like most western countries needs immigrants. The problem is that unscrupulous employers prefer illegals. Those employers are the cause of the problem.
