a what?    :lol

Sorry SOCCER   Give me a break, I just got back from lunch with the boss, my tummy's full, and I'm ready to take a nap. Can't repair any of the gear in my shop because I'm waiting on authorization from the cutomers to do the work, so I'm bored, and it's a nice day outside, and I'd rather be out fishing or golfing.  Might go out back and wash my truck as long as I have to be here at work. I'll just forward my office phone to my cell, not that I ever get a bunch of calls since I'm in the tech side of the house.

Geez I love my new job!!!!!

That is an outstanding way to get into an unnecessary confrontation.

That may be, but I used to do it when I lived on a busy street and my kids were playing out front. I'd rather have a small discussion with someone over a ball, than have to deal with seeing my kid or someone elses kid get hit by a car because someone wants to race through a residential area. If your not willing to stand up to someone who is potentialy posing a threat to your kids through their stupidity, what are you willing to stand up for??

thats a good idea off to wal mart tonight for a basketball..LOL

Our dad use to sit out front while we blew stuff up on New Years and July 4th with a cooler of beer and bucket of baseballs, little more control and velocity with those. Those 2 days of the year nobody would stop at the stop sign in front of the house and treat it like turn at Indy.

Texas needs gun control...it sounds like it's getting out of hand.

(Paging Steve Bailey...Paging Steve Bailey) ;)

Texas has gun control. We need to kick start death row. It stopped for awhile for the liberals to hash out saving criminals at the expense of innocent victims.

I send my son out to get into the car this morning (intending to be a few steps behind him), and hear gun shots from right outside our home. He runs back in & locks the door (smart kid).

I go outside & see the cop who lives across the street peel off in his car (I didn't know he was a cop until this morning when he turned the lights inside of his car on.  I guess he's a new neighbor, since I don't recall ever having seen him before today, either).

Then later in the morning another son calls me to bring him something at his school.  As I'm walking out of his school, I hear screaming and a ton of gun shots from the surrounding neighborhood.

Further down my street, there's another cop.  He was shot outside of his home a few months back. When I googled it this morning, that news article that details that particular shooting has disappeared ~ and in it's place is a news article which appears to have replaced it, omitting entirely that he's a cop... and even changes the line of events.

And even now as I'm typing this I hear more sirens.  When we moved into this neighborhood just a few short years ago, this was considered to be one of the "safer" parts of town.  I am soooo ready to leave our neighborhood.

If you should decide to stay there, then I would definitely recommend getting a Class III fully automatic weapon to protect your home with.   This would give you a big edge in protecting your family from any armed thugs and hoodlums.

Texas is one of the states that still allows for ownership of  Class III weapons.   A dealer in Central Texas has detailed instructions available online to help any Texas citizen who wants to get a license to get a Class III firearm.   Feel free to check it out here:

http://www.spreadfirearms.com/class3citizen.html

The only gotcha in doing this is that your local Chief of Police has to approve your license.   And they are not required by law to do so in Texas, even if your criminal record is clean.   But most Police Chiefs and Sheriffs in Texas are pro-gun ownership, so your odds are actually pretty decent that they would, as long as you have a clean record.

Mac-10 9mm submachine guns are pretty popular with Moms for self-defense.   It would definitely be one to check out, like this lady here:

Thanks, I'm not going to walk around wearing a gun. All of these shootings have been out in the streets, since they're serious pansies, and don't get out of the cars.  It's not like I'd ever have time to go into the house, get the weapon, load it, then go back out by the time they finish driving by.

I ain't moving, neither.

Thugs: rutabagas who use guns because they ain't man enough to use anything else.

If you don't protect yourself then may I suggest the old exercise we did in gym years and years ago.... the squat thrust so you can practice hitting the deck....

That's my point. I'm not going to sit on my front porch with a loaded gun on the off chance that some twit with a gun drives by.

And if a twit with a gun does drive by, there's not time to go back into the house, get my gun, load it, & go back out to shoot the guy.  They'd have already driven past.

Well, drive by violence has a habit of eventually coming indoors.

Just look at what has happened in Chicago this past week.   All of the shootings and killings over the weekend were random outdoor events.

Then yesterday a home in Chicago gets invaded, all 5 people inside shot dead execution style to the head, and the house ransacked and looted of valuables.

Criminals are becoming more and more bold these days.   And many seem to have no respect at all for human life.

We're moving to your town (eventually). The rest of our family is there already. Will be years, though. It's sweet peace when we visit. :)

IMHO I think its time to move, especially when cops are getting shot and then its being covered up.
Be safe... :salute
