Helicopters... GOOD IDEA OR BAD??

bad idea....only helicopter i have ever heard of being used was German, it was barely even a helicopter. it went like 50MPH or something at most, inviting target for anything. youd be wasting your time flying one. taking an M8 is faster, and an M3 is about the same.

People the USS Arizona sank in WWII along with its two medical rescue helicopters.

Valerio, I can see the resting place of the Arizona from my backyard. I've been there MANY times, in fact, im going again on memorial day. I don't recall EVER hearing ANYTHING about helicopters, and unless they are invisible, the photos of the Arizona on the morning of December 7th show no Helos, nor are there any of the necessary provisions for the maintenance of Helos on her, or ANY other Battleships of her time. The Missouri had a PAD for Helos, AFTER the war, but that's about it. Helicopters WERE in World War Two. They WEREN'T on the Arizona.

There were helicopters BUT, they were not used in a military role. Rotary wing technology was still in its infancy and not ready to be put on the battlefield.

I don't believe there was a single chopper shot down in action during all of WW2 so, pointless imo.

Technically, SAR IS military related, and there were a few used for that by Germany IIRC. But no gunships, no combatants or anything else like that of course.

There were no helicopters on Arizona or any other US ship in December of 1941. There were no operational helicopters in US service in 1941.

You are a lucky person! I was there in July and as concious as I am of that time period, I was still moved by it.  I love how they moored the Missouri so that its forward guns stand guard over the Arizona
