Unfortunately for Dr. Porsche his fascination with advanced engine design led to the ultimate failure of the VK 4502 (P). The 10-cylinder engines failed during trials, and there was no confidence that the design would bear fruit (given previous Porsche failures using the same drivetrain layout). Work continued into the middle of 1944, but progress to get the design working failed.  Ultimately the 50 turrets Porche produced through Krupp for the VK 4502 (P), were converted for use on the Henschel Tiger II to eliminate waste.

Guys,

Cool thread and I wish I could have been posting but have been away on work (my reference library is home).

I started this site back in 96-7 and one of my "other" hobbies is 1/35th scale armor. At the time I was majorly fasinated with captured armor and had been scannning materials and photos I have. Work, life etc goes on (and I lost the password to the old site so, it kind of sits in e-limbo).

The other cool thing that I started in 01, was traveling the world for work and have had the oppurtunity to visit some great Armor musueums throughout the world. Kublinka, Samur aside,  I would highly reccomend the Deutches Armor Musuem in Munster, as well as the former GDR Army Musueum in Dresden.
