We both got there at the same time.

Regardless, I like to "pretend" it's a real war.

How many times in WWII did people sit around and watch while their countrymen "dueled," an enemy?

How did it work out for them?

Anyway, it was right over an enemy airfield where cons were upping; etc..

Whatever, I'm attacking unless I see a high con coming in.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. You flew all the way to an enemy field and ignored all the other planes taking off or already up to engage the plane that another friendly was already targeting. I'd guess he just did the smart thing and reoriented on other targets/threats and left you on your own. I tend to ignore other players if they ignore me and/or fail to communicate. Sounds like you got exactly the outcome you deserved...

Name'o Dastardly.  Affectionately known as......Dick

All I did was attack a Spit he thought he was entitled to.  As much as a gobsite** as he is he may well have had just cause

I didn't see his name on it, and his bellybutton didn't help out and I ended up gettin waxed.  By that spit or the other uppers?

I will attack any red guys I see at any time and I will not ask permission.  You'll learn to be selective

I actually found myself getting REALLY pissed.  Use the force not the dark side

Congrats,  you got to me.

We both got there at the same time.  Are you absolutely sure?

Regardless, I like to "pretend" it's a real war.  With that in mind one acts as wing to the other

How many times in WWII did people sit around and watch while their countrymen "dueled," an enemy?  I believe that happened under certain circumstances

How did it work out for them?  Some one already posted about that

Anyway, it was right over an enemy airfield where cons were upping; etc..  Warning Will Robinson....  Warning!!

Whatever, I'm attacking unless I see a high con coming in. Never mind the high con when you're low near an enemy field.  The fresh uppers are the real threat.

OK piss take over and welcome to the wonderfull world of AH & AH BB's.  As you can gather by the responses given, interfering on a 1v1 isn't the politest thing to do.  It can be a tad annoying having fought a guy for 5 min to have a friendly come cherry pick the enemy of your 12 O'clock.  Here's another way to look at the dueled 1v1.  Sometimes the opponent is particularly good and you want to pitch your skills against his and it's taken you a few minutes to work his 6, bleed his alt and E only to get robbed of the result.  After all you did all the work to get the con at the disadvantage he's in.

There are multi con environments where the other cons should be the priority.  Nothing wrong with clearing a friendlies 6 when other baddies are "in" but to clear his 12 with cons about is just wrong and it'll get you both shot down.  You'll need his assistance as much as he'll need yours.  Let the friendly shoot the con down and take on the baddies coming to rescue their friend.  ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CLOSE TO AN ENEMY FIELD.  No sense the pair of you being low an slow with 3 or 4 fresh uppers with loads of speed and full clips...so's to speak.  Keep your eye's open and what ever alt & E you have.  No harm asking the friendly if he needs help but don't expect a response.  Not everyone has vox or the mic key configured on their stick.

If your in a big arse furball then just about anything goes.  You'll often be to busy to notice if your clearing a friendlies 12 or 6 O'clock.... if it's read its dead.

As for Dick you'll become aware of his antics.

He probably figures all the people that keep beating him have all that stuff.  I'm sure he just made CH and TrackIR people happy though.

I use a laptop and a mouse.

A reliable joystick is all you need really. The rest is just junk that makes you dependant on it and clutters the desk.  :)

No way Nilsen.. It might be only the last 2-3%, but it still adds up to a significant difference. I'm not going back to twisty and I'm pretty sure I won't go back to hat switch or cursor piper once I get trackir going.

Well, if he got any lead on him, he'd get the kill if I took'em out.

This concept is foolish.

Go to the DA or something if you want to dance around the sky like Robin Goodfellow.
maybe you should take into consideration you are playing with other humans and show some courtesy if the fella is already engaged...otherwise you're just being a theiving arse griefer... :aok

Hell, All I use is a 10 yr old MS precision 2 twisty joystick.  I have no issues and I kill just fine.

It's like I said.. With a twisty I could do ~95% of what I do with the pedals.  That last 5% is still a substantial difference... It's usually the difference between regular acm and the really precise "h4x" stuff, the exact shots from 600 out, and riding the edge of the envelope that fraction of a second smoother/longer.  If I could control the head position with my own head, I'd probably cut down the misses on snapshots with the 152 by about 50%.  That's really not insignificant IMO.
This is the same kind of thing as those tiny 100ths of a second per corner that add up to a second per lap in racing.  It all adds up.. Discomfort with the way you sit, or if your screen is too bright, or if there's reflections from a light source around you, or noise nearby, or if your pedals or hats are slipping under your feet or hands, or if the controls' geometry or input scaling aren't optimal... It all easily adds up to the difference between the plane doing what you intend it to, and a train wreck.

Saw Boxman this morning.  I easlily dodged his HO and a minute later I put a 30mm in his lap easily.

First tip: Don't HO.  It's easy to counter and in the best situation your really only 50/50 to survive, let alone get a good kill.

2nd tip:  Keep your SA up.  Don't just stop paying attention to someone because you missed.  I whipped back towards you as you missed by using the verticle, after that I don't think you even knew I was there.  I know f4u's have bad rear views but I was way up on your high 6.  If you had seen me you could have defended against my attack

3rd tip:  Pay attention to what most of the responses to this thread have been.  Plenty of people in this game wouldn't mind helping you improve, but if you keep copping an attitude you'll never get the chance to learn from the best in the game.

have a good day
