Respect
« on: May 07, 2009, 11:19:03 PM »
You know it usually doesn't bother me but for some reason it hit a nerve tonight. I try to be respectful to everyone in the game bish, knit, rook it doesn't matter. But you know it just tics me off when you have a whole squad that will not Salute you weather you shoot them down or they shoot you down. Do they think there better than everyone else, do they think that someone like me isn't worthy of being in the same arena as thou holy one's, what is the deal. I put my life in danger everyday for my fellow man with out asking for reward or recognition and I never will, it's my nature to be friendly and respectful to other people. And to send a jester of respect and friendliness as a salute to some one that enjoys playing this game as I do and to get back nothing from more than one in the same squad just tramples on everything that I believe. I don't expect it from everyone and I do it just out of respect, but is it so hard to type .S (name).

What squad are you referring to?

I've heard a lot of complaints about Corky, I hear he got muted just the other night for being inflammatory towards TxMom.

I don't think I will name the squad, because I thought they were respected and I guess I was wrong, and I killed enough of them and they killed me enough tonight that they know who they are.

We got along for years before the ".s" command was introduced. Whether you give a <S> or not doesn't mean diddley towards how you feel about the person.

In MY personal humble opinion, sending <S> all the time is like chatting on AOL with all the arbitrary built-in acronyms, a private in-joke for kids "in the know" -- but it's not funny.

So I don't send salutes. Has nothing to do with the quality of the fight or how I feel about the person. Most times I'll gripe on squad vox if I don't like a guy or maybe on 200 if I do. Sometimes (very rarely) I'll give out a <S> if I think the other guy warrants it and I'm in a good mood.

Doesn't mean others DON'T deserve it. Means I don't often use what I feel to be a lame game feature.

I don't think its lame, if its used to send a message out of respect across to another player. I think its a quick and easy notion of hey good fight..... :salute "no pun intended"

As long as you are ok with yourself, what does it matter?  You said something in your post about not asking for reward or recognition.  If you can get by in the real world without it, I wouldn't let the cartoon world bother you :)

I hear what all you guys are saying, and its not going to change who I am and how I play the game, but sometimes a friendly jester is just a friendly jester and I wanted them to know it. :salute

Take Cajuns advice and don't let it worry you to much.

I forget to give them all the time mostly because I'm still busy or the text buffer is moving so fast I'm missing a lot of messages. I had 200 turned off for almost two years now it's on 1/2 the time I play. I'm sure it will be going off again this summer as usual.

You can't hold it against them if they can't see it or to busy to say WTG NF

I TRY to make a point to type "g/k" (good kill) or "n/s" (nice shot) before my plane hits the ground and i'm in the tower.

Sometimes when I SEE the name who shot me I don't wanna salute 'em which is why I try to type it before I hit the ground and see who got me.  This way hated nme, unknown dweeb, or virtual comrade all will get a "good kill" by me equally.

Just something I do.
