Hummm,....
Well let's take it slow and start from the beginning. Try and think of what we liked and how or why that changed. My time line might not be exact but I'm sure I'll get some help on that.
I want to say first that I know many of the people in AH don't read these boards and of the ones who do, only a handful really do post here so that may be a problem. The ones who do post are mostly long timers, or at least remember how things used to be and what it was we used to really like about the game.
That I remember, in Ah1 we had a different type of crowd..that would probably be the biggest difference I think. The evolution and popularity of online games has grown considerably. Almost anyone can get on now and find a favorite game to play with the majority of them being of a younger generation.
I also remember we used to like the DA, it had it's purpose and was very fun to visit. That changed with the dismantling of H2H which not long after made a huge difference in game play, not only there but in the main as well.
We used to have only one arena to play in and I'm not sure exactly when Mid War started but a lot of people really liked going there.
There was some complaining that there was a lot of score hoarding going on in MW to build perks for LW so the scoring for the arenas were split. For the most part MW was a great place to go and I can remember many good posts about it.
After the split tho, many people just left to play in LW which was good in a way for all those dedicated MW people. MW for a good while was a great place to find some great fights and quite a few people switched between the LW and MW arenas. I think good fights might be the key word here.
It became apparent that a new arena should be opened and we got both orange and blue for LW. People complained about the maps and wanted some of the older large ones to be re installed and what a relief that was. This of course allowed even more players to join and HTC grew.
Over the months people began complaining again as always but i think it all comes back to missing the good fights whether it was in TT, FT or the smaller maps. What I notice about the posts over the last couple years is that people want to go back to the way it was while others who have no idea what we are talking about think things are fine just the way they are.
Many posts are about fair game play while others are about respect. There have also been many post about wanting a new area to play in to conduct such types of game play. FSO, AVA, SEA, KOTH and the snap shots I believe were all created out of what the players were always asking for and had wanted something better. They are all mostly rule oriented games to play but none are a daily fixture and some are to stringent in rules to be so. One life games won't work of course on a daily basis. AVA was a good idea but doesn't work for why I don't know? Close but no cigar I think.
A new arena would be cool but that would mean throwing out the old to make room for the new.
I think changing MW to a two sided arena while keeping it's full plane set IS a good idea.
Orange would stay of course but is in need of some CM changes.
Blue in it's own way is somewhat close to what MW used to be IMO. This is the arena that I think would benefit htc most from by making experimental changes to it. It's a perfect place to do that with but the changes have got to be good.
Maybe a poll from HTC would be in order. The last one that I remember was about a WWl arena being added. How bout one asking if a non score non base take arena is needed....or something on those lines. Basically a fighter map of some sort.
Whether good or bad, thats all I got so flak on or whatever your going to do.
