See Rule #4

This is not a "GRAMMAR" contest SLICK, it is a informational post to help some people who need it, others who don't need the help or have constructive input can ignore this thread.

Indeed, this is not a site about grammar. Regardless, let me offer you this just so you can correct your sig:

"Wherever you go, there you are."

The problem with grammar/spelling errors is that they detract from the message. I offer the correction to help.

I'll fat-finger stuff all the time and thus am reluctant to jump down other's throats.

It only detracts from the message if you let it.

Consider the following example:

I wrote a story for the book that was both long-winded and confusing.

You tell me, which was long-winded and confusing - the book or the story?

Or, consider the following nonsense:

That that is is that that isn't is not

morphs to make perfect sense when punctuated:

That that is, is. That that isn't, is not.

I.E., I disagree entirely.

You have a valid point on punctuation, but within the topic of this discussion I do not see it confusing or diluting the point of the thread discussion.
The whole point of this thread was to try and think ahead of what your computer system capabilities need to be in the short and long term  and also making use of the talented people around us to help get your system on track, that's about it.

All it takes sometimes is deductive reasoning.

All it takes sometimes is deductive reasoning.

Sure, but that's why I used the story example - it's very ambiguous. Was the book or the story long-winded? This next one, however, is much easier:

<bad use of caps>
I helped my uncle jack off a horse.
<correct way>
I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse.

See, if you read the first one, depending on your Uncle, odds are you'd know the intended thought was as expressed in the second.

I still have a pair of Seagate Cheetah two gig externals SCSI. When i bought them for DV they were the absolute newest, hottest thing available for the fledgeling prosumer DV market. I forget what processor I used for that system but real time video editing was actually achievable. A thing we take for granted now. They cost a ton at the time and were considered very large drives.

And the beat goes on.

I have been reading the numerous post about how people want the old program back because there systems are inadequate to handle upgrades this game, even with these moderate changes the damand on there existing systems is severe. Well in my opinion if that's where your at now, you have been out of touch with reality, it is inevitable that you will need to upgrade your systems to keep pace just with what going out normal in the computer world let alone Gaming, and what make this game any different then the old Playstation or Nintendo. Most of who have been reading these forums know that it was coming and now are poo pooing the work that HTC has gone through to keep us interested and make more enjoyable to use. So thinking forward is what you need to do, I'm sure they will upgrade this again at some point and put even a higher demand your computer system. As for myself if the thing I want to do requires me to upgrade my computer to do it then I'll do just that if I want to do that thing bad enough, which from what I've seen most of players have upgraded or modified there systems to meet those ends. I think the trick is to build or buy as system that exceeds the requirements at present but will allow you keep up with changes as time moves on, my system was custom built in 2007 and went through this upgrade with very little adjusting.

My final word is that find someone who good at computer modifications and get informed advice on how approach your issues

 :salute
Hello.
I'm somewhat confused after reading your post. Are you writing that some people are out of touch with reality because of a game upgrade? Or are you writing that some people should be thinking forward because of what has happened  in the computer world?
Your final word " find someone who good at computer modifications and get informed advice on how approach your issues" has nothing to do with the paragraph that precedes it.

Well first I would to say excuse my typo's in my intial post, in responce to your inquiry, I had said people were out of touch with reality in relation to what is going on in AH and in what has transpired in the outside computer world, I guess I could have worded it a bit better, but it comes down to some of the AH members were barely able function under the old system or at best maxed out and are now shocked and upset that they need to do something about it. If you take a short history lession of just the home console games and how they progressed and became obsolete over the past 10 years is a good indicator that you should always be forward thinking when it is your time to buy or upgrade your system, of course to as much as the current technologies allow.

As far as my last line it only has to do with the preceding paragraph if you found yourself fitting that description then that is what I'm recommending on how to proceed from this point forward.

And that's exactly why I don't play console games. It's a racket.

I'm still kicking myself that I threw out my 2600 and all the cartridges sometime in the 90s. I think I had more fun with that console than any other equipment I've owned before or since.

I also like to fire up MAME once in a while and play Golden Age arcade games. There's never been a better arcade-style game than Galaga.

After reading this thread ive come to the conclusion that Aces High is a game played by non gamers.

I noticed that a while ago while reading threads on here with people complaining about the outdated graphics. They were mostly shot down with the argument of gameplay > graphics. And while I agree with that sentiment, it was really getting bad with this game. You really needed to love dogfighting to be able to appreciate the flight model enough to stick with it. And while that may be a good way to keep the average skill level high, the game would eventually die out. HTC has to keep the graphics somewhat close to modern in order to keep new customers. And really, gaming rigs are cheap now. You can run almost all modern games on 2 year old hardware, nevermind this game. No one here ever seemed to be hard up for cash when people complained about free h2h going kaput (sorry but as a pc gamer I despise monthly fees).

:noid

And for the people with decent hardware who are experiencing problems. All you can do is make sure everything is ok on your end and just wait for a patch. HTC definitely doesn't have the resources to do wide-scale bug testing so they have to use the customer. That's pretty much typical for pc gaming now. I'm sure they're working hard to get everything fixed asap.

I think the assertion about it being a game for non-gamers is mostly true. It's a game for history buffs who want to experience what it must've been like there and then. My evidence is purely anecdotal.

OTOH, I'm very happy with the new graphics, they heighten the sense of realism.

You raise the question of HTC's operation, implicitly. I know little about the company but assume it to be quite small. Does anyone know? It looks like developers check in and out here.
