New patch = pile o' crap
« on: August 02, 2009, 12:31:14 AM »
Discoed 4 times today. Game running like crap when I'm not discoed, stops and starts so bad "stuttering" doesn't even begin to describe it. I've got detailed terrain off and my frame rate is around 60 most of the time, so it isn't that, and anyway this didn't happen all week, only since the latest patch. A couple of others I talked to got discoed multiple times today as well.

Work the bugs out, HTC, or revert to the old version. I'll tolerate the crappy graphics if others want to have their chrome, but I ain't paying $14.95 to stare at a black screen.

I'm really ashamed for some of the stuff these posters are putting out. HTC has delivered the update everyone was wanting and most of what I see on these boards are complaints!
I held my comments until i looked, listened and read up on the problems I was having. I'm glad I did because just as I suspected there were some things I needed to do on my end to make the game playable. The game is not perfect. Never was to begin with but IMHO it's better then it was. The terrain is awesome, the water and sun glare are just plain cool as hell.

How do you think the folks at HTC feel when you call all their hard work a pile o' crap? I came to this game right before AH1  ended and believe me, what we have now is way better.

If you have a problem, roll up your sleeves and try to solve it. Either that or become part of the problem. You knuckelheads that fill up the boards with this whining and crying does nothing but take up space that could be used to figure some of this stuff out. As it is now, most of us have to weed through all the crap (like this thread) to get answers. Grow up peabrain!

I'm sure your mother cares...you can always tell the juvenile turds from the serious people...serious people either leave without some loud stupidity like your post or they post their concerns in an educated adult manner.

Any stuttering I have experienced, on this version as well as the previous ones, seem to me to be due to textures being rendered on my computer.

I will get stutters when a new plane shows up, when I get low and the trees start popping up, etc.

Maybe your computer needs some tweaking.

Of course you could just whine instead.

I never thought to ask---does your hard drive hammer when stutters occur?

Nope.

Also, it doesn't only happen in the arena - it sometimes starts as soon as the game is open, before I've even logged in. This is why i don't think it's a graphics issue, or insufficient RAM.

There's bugs in the new version. HTC knows it. That's why we've had 3 patches since it came out on Tuesday. HTC is doing an amazing job of trying to smooth out the transition, they've even been trying to help players in the arenas.

Everyone needs to just settle down.

If you're serious about wanting help, post your system spec and output from dxdiag.  There are lots of smart people here and I'm sure you will recieve good advice as long as you ask for it with some thought and respect.
