The problems with most Big Ten teams (such as Penn State) is the early part of the schedule. Most schedule cupcake university.

Same with them all.  The only one that plays any ranked team within the first three games of the year is The Ohio State University.

They've played texas, home and home, and now play USC...this year they lost in Columbus.  They will go to USC next year.

Most credit USCs loss to Oregon to the previous weeks game at OSU.  Was a tough game for both teams.

This is one of the reason I believe OSU is in first place in the big ten by the end of the year.  They actually schedule a top flite

team in the early going.  Scheduling Notre Dame a middle of the pack team of the 115 NCAA teams is not a true test.

Truthfully....if it weren't for alumni and a TV contract with NBC.....ND MIGHT make be ranked 50. Not in the top 25.

Ark St. is a 1-3 SunBelt Conference team.

I'd say it was another case where a top ranked Pig10 school let a crappy team from a crappy conference come into a Pig10 stadium and make them sweat.   :aok

No. Iowa played a very safe game. If Iowa lost the game it would have made no difference in the Big 10. Arkansas State may be doing badly in their conference but they are a well coached team. Their players were seldom out of position. They were out manned and the game outcome was never in doubt. Crappy team? Their in conference loss was to Troy by 3 points. Look at Purdue. Calling them a team right now is being generous. Unlike Purdue, Arkansas State didn't embarrass themselves.
Iowa's defense is solid. Their offense while struggling gets the job done. They probably have the toughest road schedule in the country. So winning all their games may not happen. Crappy? No. Bowl record. 1-1 Florida, 0-1 USC, 1-0 LSU, 1-0 USC(South Carolina) 1-0 vs Texas Tech.

OSU success has little to do with their early game schedule. In the past few years OSU has not finished that well. They go through the Big Ten then splat. So the theory that their early schedule is their key to success doesn't hold up. What their early schedule does is give them a lot of exposure to a national audience for recruiting. OSU typically only has one nationally ranked team on thier early schedule.

OSU may lose a couple of games this year. They have tough games against Wisconsin, Penn State and Iowa coming up.

I guess OSU lost to USC because the previous week they played a tough game against Navy.  :lol

Also, It's a good thing OSU had Toledo after their tough game agaisnt USC.  :rofl

If my fav team cried about having to play tough games back to back we'd be cryin all the time.

You are right, a 3 point win at home vs a 3 loss team from the Sunbelt Conference was really solid.  Wtg  :aok

USC and OSU will continue to cruise as long as they win. Boise State ranked number five? Must be because of their tough schedule.  Cincinnati number 8? :old:

It shows me two things:   1.  The "system" needs a long needed overhaul (as I throw out the rankings in discussions) & 2.  The cream always rises to the top and both will be out of the Top 10 before the Final Poll.

Well, you see that LSU only had 3 points.  OSU score a hell lot more when the lost to USC.  So, what do you expected, LSU be rank better then OSU.

So they both have one loss.  Both of them at home.

LSU's loss is to the #1 undefeated team.

Ohio St.'s Loss is to a 1 loss USC.

LSU beat the team that beat USC.

Iowa and Kansas outta be ranked ahead of both of em and USC untill they lose.

OSU's offensive production has not been good this year.

Iowa has two tough away games coming up. (Wisconsin, Michigan State) Would hate to see them get into the top ten just to get bounced back out.
Boise States' schedule is a joke for a top tier team.  Cal-Davis, Tulsa, Hawaii, San Jose State... Cincinnati will have some competition this Thursday against South Florida. Then Pitt.
