Why I Will Never Have the High Score
« on: February 16, 2010, 09:07:04 PM »
In no particular order:

  • I don't use the rearm pad.
  • I fly all my flights as a fighter (not a small set as fighter and the rest attack).
  • I don't tend to fly uber planes.
  • Some planes I fly take all week just to get to 8k.  I have to get out and push sometimes.
  • I burn off those pesky .303\7.x mm rounds before taking off.
  • Sometimes I parachute down and give 6 calls for a while just for fun.
  • I always respond to a call for help (even if I am bringing kills home).
  • I play for fun and to be silly.  This game is like therapy for me.

I am not really trying to make my score higher its just that...I don't care.  I know I have brain damage not to want to spend every moment of the game trying to improve my score but that is just how I am wired.  So I'd like to formally apologize for this huge flaw.  Furthermore, I'd like to apologize for that last apology.  That was really uncalled for.

Oh and there is this other small thing.  Chuck Norris spoke to me in a dream and told me not to play for score.

Wow.  A post to justify your suckage.  You must be good!   :D

Seriously, none of those are good excuses.  I used to do all the same things and still made the overall top 10-15 consistantly.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

I use the rearm pad all the time...

In fact it HURTS your score to use the rearm pad.

kills/time is a major factor in the score-milkers, they just auger/die instantly and reup (faster that way).

I think hotpadding is fun. I once had a 1.5 hour P-40E sortie, where I found a little action, the fight went away, and flew to hotpad, flew off to another place where my squaddies were fighting, had to hotpad again (I wasn't taking full fuel) and then flew another fight there!

Hotpads are just plain fun. Especially if you're slightly damaged, but not enough to stop you from challenging yourself.

P.S. "I burn off pesky .303 rounds" <-- makes you sound more dweeby, when the point of the thread was to sound less dweeby.

The scoring system HTC designed still just doesnt make sense to me.  It seems to promote poor gameplay.  The more I come to understand it the more I dislike it.  I still havent been able to find the write up here on the HTC websight that even attempts to explain the mechancics of it.

its all about fun.  wish there was a way to rank people based on how much fun they had and not how many kills they got. but before you guys start hijacking this thread, it would be mandatory to fly with clothes on (of the same sex you believe you are  :rofl) and with less than a 12 pack of beer  .

You don't have to be good to get a high score and you can have fun while doing it.

I guess the cutoff for me is when score is more important than helping my fellow countrymen. On the other hand jumping into every suicide mission is not fun either nor is it fun to constantly do what others think you should be doing.
