The caps on arenas are a pain in the arse alot of times but I look at it like this, If HTC didn't have the caps in place, LW blue would have 10,15 or 20 players most of the day running milk missions and rolling undefended bases. The caps limit the time milkers, tool shedders and other point starved non fighting types have to do their thing, by shoving folks in there with them forcing them to face the enemy.

HTC has proven to me time and time again that there's a method to their madness and I've come to trust their judgement on this. Skuzzy posted something that HiTech said in regards to why they think the caps are important, and for me that's the final word. After all, it is their game and I've seen nothing but improvment in the short time I've been around.  So I just go with the flow and have fun doing it.  :salute

Just read some of the replies and I now understand why we have caps :old:

Can't there be some kind of compromise, like only kicking in the caps from say 5pm till midnight CST.  That is the busy time so when one arena hits the cap, the other will fill quickly.   For example I just tried to log on to find:

Orange = 176/100
Blue = 6/150

I checked again 15 min later to still find myself locked out of Orange and only 9 people in Blue.  I realize the cap is supposed to force the other arena to reach a critical mass, but this time of day it doesn't seem to work.   So basically if I wanna play LW all I can do is fly around in an empty arena.  As a paying customer this just feels like I've been given the total shaft.  I completely get the need to grow the business, but shouldn't there be some compromise for keeping existing customers happy as well?

I can live with the caps when there is >100 in each arena, ie during primetime US hours.  But if I wanna play midday (like today) I'm stuck in an empty arena.   :mad:

There all ready is a compromise , the caps kick in from 12 pm to 12 am central.

I have come up with one new idea. The caps would not kick in until later, but when they kicked in, all would be ejected from the arena. Just simply starting the caps later does not work well when up against 400 people already in 1 arena. It makes it all the more difficult to populate the 2nd arena. But if we eject all, they would both then be quickly populated.

Thanks, I appreciate that you actually take the time to respond to customer concerns.

I did not realize that there are no caps for 12 hrs, I guess I've never been on at those times.

As for starting the caps at a later time and booting everyone; that sounds reasonable to me.

Arena reset like the past. Will this (if you do it), change the maps or ownership of fields?

Would be fine for me.

And I'm only 50% kidding ;)

This way, I would have the chance to play with like 300 players on a (large) map again, as I was when joining AH and during the last 2 weeks without caps.

For the majority of (American) players, the caps are not that big of an issue when they log on and have 2 late war arenas with around 200+ players each.
Here, the caps kick in at 7pm, and for about 1h the only available LW arena has about 10-50 players. Right now, at 8:50pm it's 89 players. Last week I could log in at prime time and face 189 players. And that does make a difference. Actually during Euro prime time there are much less players in the arena than during Euro afternoon / US morning.
I'm already missing the caps-less time :(

So, for me selfish snail, setting minimum  caps to 400 and ejecting all players when cap kicks in would NOT be the worst thing at all  :P

It wouldn't bother me too much. I liked the daily resets when we had them. My favorite time was at the end of AH1 when we a bunch of little maps and was able to pork their fuel. Sometimes maps were reset a few times a day.
