Common thread to folks now having crashes from AH???

I set everything to high performance individually. If I recall, the HDDs, monitors and NIC are set to sleep by default.

For those who are not having any crash issues with Windows 7 64 bit, I need to know what services, if any, you have disabled.

I need to know if it an OEM copy you installed yourself as well.

How about power management settings?

For anyone who is not familiar with how to get the information, do the following.

Start > Run > msinfo32

Go to software environment > services

Click on the column header state and it will arrange the list by started or stopped and in alphabetical order.

By clicking on the first item marked stopped then scrolling down to the last stopped item then holding down the shift key and clicking on the last stopped item, you can highlight all stopped processes in the list.

CTRL + C will copy the highlighted items to the Windows clipboard so you can paste it into wordpad or MS word.

If you use wordpad, navigate to view then find word wrap and check "wrap to windo" that will at least format the text to somewhat of a columnar setup.

By the way, whenever you get this crash, you need to go ahead and hit the button to send a report to Microsoft.

I'm using an OEM install of Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, Superfetch disabled, high performance, and I'm not getting any crashes, aside from the one that I'm suspecting was caused by overheating.

One other thing, updates.  How many of you are current on Windows updates for the 64 bit version of Windows 7?

I'll post my service list in an hour or so.

I re-installed windows and had AH running in it within 20 minutes without any updates what-so-ever and it still had the same app crash.

I've updated windows since then and the problem neither changed, nor went away.

I have Windows update set to notify, but I've always installed the updates.

My crashing began the day I subscribed, last Thursday I think, which is why I assumed it was related to skin downloading, although that turned out not to be the case.

When I look at my WU history, it only shows as having installed security updates, all occurring August 10th. In case it's of interest, I installed these updates 8/10:

The problem seems random. I can crash 3 times in an hour and then run for hours with no problem.

I'll try disabling some Windows services tonight. I've been meaning to get around to that one of these days anyway.

I would have to say around August 3rd or so.

Just wanted to add my information to the pool here.  For the record, I'm suffering no problems whatsoever with crashes, disconnects, or graphical anomalies.. there are a few sound bugs, but I don't think that has anything to do with what's going on with people here.

I will add that I have Windows 7, Home Premium, 64 bit installed.  I did a fresh install with it from a retail upgrade 3-pack (family pack) I purchased.  Power settings I thought were at high performance, but at one time I installed ASRock's instant boot utility, which apparently added a new power profile I did not notice.  I built this computer myself, and the processor and video cards are slightly overclocked, but running with stock cooling options.

All MS updates were installed (including the large batch a couple of days ago) with no ill-effects.

My crashes are complete crashes requiring usage of the power button. I have never had any other option. Once it got so far as to tell me I had an error (how kind) but I couldn't view the details as.. it had locked up.

High Performance Power setting, monitor shuts off after 20 mins.

Not running into issues here, although I have not gone into Late War arena. I've played Mid-War a couple of times, WWI once, the TDI BOB event Friday evening, and flew the first part of the Phandango frame on Saturday.

I've installed all Windows updates. Anyone checking anti-virus here? An update to one of the big ones could hit a number of people.

I installed OEM Win7 64b bit all MS Updates to date as of 8-13-2010. MS Firewall and Defender disabled. Nod32 as antivirus, disabled during game play.

Last week Friday I was having constant AH executable unrecoverable errors to the desktop while playing in the blue arena with the updated Mindinoa map. Every 15-20 minutes. The errors happened during furballs with a large amount of VOX chatter. Noticing that it was happening during a peak sound event, I changed my sound setup ing the game. I stopped having the executable error to the desktop, or at least I was able to play for an error free hour then moved to the orange arena with no errors.

I can't say for sure that the crashing is gone until I can pull a marathon session next weekend, but it may be a place to start honing in on which service(s) are suspect. I will post here if anything changes.
