the 190's are bait at or above 25k...horrible vertical recovery after their first pass...they always end up scrappling from the belly position trying to catch back up...

They had me worried up till a few minutes ago.  I heard that Titanic Tuesday didn't happen last week, and it almost looked like this week was going to be the same.  :O   Looks like this MoM will be able to happen now.  :rock

Actually, I had to check to make sure it wasn't tomorrow morning for some odd reason.  Would have sucked to have to be sick tomorrow.

That was an epic battle and I think it mirrored "Black Thursday"
pretty well.  We took quite a lickin' but gave as good as we
got.  Hit the target and still made it back to base, albeit with
significant losses of around 70%.

Target was again the Industrial City.
Got it down to 23% after all ordnance expended.
Clobbered the radar factory as well for good measure.  :t

Our forces consisted of the following:

B-17 Bombers: 44 sets
P-47 Escorts: 31 sets.

It would have been perfect but as usual a few people
upped P-47's and Tempests.  Musta took em some
time to get to us as we were attacking Knights
but the jugs were from Bishland.

I might not know how long it took them to get to us
but I know how long they lasted after they
attacked us: mere seconds.   That's what you
get for violating the theme of this mission!
(no, I'm not naming names...)  :uhoh

The next [MoM] is already setup and is to be
a joint Bishop vs. Rooks affair to recreate yet
another historical battle.

You can learn more about that here:

MoM Interceptor Report •

There I was... leaving my jet in the hangar for once  and taking the venerable FW 190A-5 higher into the sky than I ever had before!

Which one to attack? Not a good time for indecisiveness!

The first terrorbomber is mortally wounded!

Bounced by a P-47, but my enemy was a bad shot! A short moment of target fixation could have been my early end...

An unfortunate second P-47 could not help to notice that I was shooting better than his comrade  :devil

The enemy formations start to lose their cohesion under the onslaught of the Luftwaffe! And another B-17 about to go down...

Debris falling everywhere

B-17 rolling on it's back and starting it's final dive

Another B-17 has gotten its wing removed by me, but the brave gunner is shooting up to the last moments of his life - and he is good!

Engine seized, oil on the canopy, half left wing gone. Gliding in from 25k for a emergency landing on a port!

Made it! Four B-17 and one P-47 kills landed by your favorite Germanic Gastropod!

:salute all buff dweebs, escorts & fellow interceptors!
